Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Reject Them All

"Tsk tsk, did I make this game a bit too difficult?"

Seeing the data, Lucien couldn't help but rest his chin on his hand as he fell into thought.

If the very first game he made ended up with no players being able to clear it, that would be rather embarrassing.

"Maybe I should give the players some hints. Mm, I don't need to panic so much. After all, the game has only been out for less than two days."

Just as Lucien was thinking this, his phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw it was an unknown number.

Lucien immediately understood in his heart. He had already guessed who was calling.

He answered the phone right away.

"Hello, may I ask if this is New World Studio?" The caller was a woman with a pleasant voice.

"Yes, it is," Lucien as well.

"Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Lisa, the project manager from Valve Corporation." The woman introduced herself.

It was exactly as Lucien had guessed. The caller was indeed from the Steam platform.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Lucien did not give his own name and asked back instead.

"It's like this. The Silent Hill PT you released on our Steam platform is now receiving great acclaim. Our company can clearly see the enormous potential of your studio."

"Therefore, we hope to reach a preliminary cooperation agreement with your studio."

Lisa didn't beat around the bush and spoke directly, her tone warm and friendly.

"About that, I'm sorry, but our studio currently has no plans to cooperate with other companies." However, Lucien rejected her outright.

"Please consider it!" Hearing this, Lisa quickly said.

"I'm sure you know about Valve Corporation. We developed classic IPs like the Half-Life series and Left 4 Dead series. If we cooperate, it would definitely be a powerful alliance."

"We are approaching you with full sincerity. Perhaps we could arrange a meeting somewhere to discuss this properly."

Lucien still refused.

"I'm sorry, but our studio really has no intention of partnering with other companies at the moment. Thank you for your kind offer. I wish you a pleasant day."

With that, he hung up the phone first.

Cooperation was impossible, at least not right now.

Collaborating with other companies at this stage would easily expose his secrets.

Developing an incredibly powerful game engine single-handedly and creating such an ultra-realistic game on top of it, It would sound too fantastical.

So as the game developer, he needed to stay well hidden behind the scenes.

He could not appear in the public eye for the time being.

Keeping a low profile was better.

Lucien sat down in front of his computer and began adding Japanese support to Silent Hill PT. At this moment, Jenny suddenly walked into the room in a hurry, phone in hand.

"Lucien, NetEase just called me!" Jenny said anxiously.

"What did they say?" Lucien continued typing on the keyboard with a calm expression.

"They said they want to learn more about the specific details of New World Studio." Jenny replied, gesturing with her hands as she spoke.

"They asked a bunch of questions like whether the studio's address is domestic or overseas, what scale the studio is, and so on."

"Then how did you answer?" Lucien asked again.

"Just like you taught me," Jenny replied, waving her small hand.

"I told them that everything regarding New World Studio is confidential and I have no information to share. I didn't reveal a single thing to them."

"Well done!" Lucien gave Jenny a thumbs up.

"By the way, Lucien, the people from Tencent also said they want to discuss some business matters with New World Studio and asked if I could help make the connection." Jenny continued.

"Just reject that too," Lucien waved his hand dismissively.

"You really want to reject them?!" Although she had expected Lucien to say this, Jenny still looked surprised.

"That's Tencent we're talking about! They're loaded with money. If we cooperate with them, we should be able to make quite a lot, right?"

"Money isn't the priority. The main issue is that I don't really like their style of game operation."

Lucien shrugged and replied, "So I have no intention of cooperating with them. It's better if we just do our own thing."

"Fine, it's your game, you decide!" Jenny didn't argue further. After all, Lucien's reasoning made sense.

Since her little brother could develop such an amazing game, with his talent, he wouldn't need the support of any big company in the future anyway!

"By the way, Jen, you'll probably start receiving calls from all the major internet companies one after another."

Lucien added, "Just remember what I said. Don't reveal even half a word of information!"

"Also, reject any business cooperation offers they make. Just two word: Fuck No!"
