Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: First Move

The city didn't know it yet…

But something had started.

A silent war.

And Daniel made the first move.

Early Morning

The streets were quiet.

Daniel stood on a rooftop, overlooking the city.

Lena stood behind him.

Watching.

Thinking.

"You're really going back there?" she asked.

Daniel didn't turn.

"Yes."

A pause.

"They won't expect it."

Lena frowned.

"You think this is a game?"

Silence.

Then—

"No," Daniel said calmly.

"That's why I'll win."

Meanwhile…

Jason sat in a large office.

Calm.

Composed.

Like always.

A man stood in front of him.

"We've lost contact with the team from last night."

Jason didn't look surprised.

"Of course you have."

A pause.

"Because he's no longer running."

The man hesitated.

"…Should we send more people?"

Jason leaned back slightly.

"No."

Silence.

"Let him come."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"I'm curious."

Back to Daniel

"You're walking into their territory," Lena said.

Daniel finally turned.

His eyes calm.

Sharp.

"They think it's theirs," he replied.

A pause.

"I'm just taking it back."

Lena's heart tightened slightly.

"You're not doing this alone."

Daniel looked at her.

For a brief moment—

Something softer appeared in his eyes.

Then—

"No."

She frowned immediately.

"What?"

"It's too dangerous."

"I don't care."

Silence.

"I do," Daniel said.

That stopped her.

Just for a second.

Then—

"Too bad," she replied.

A small pause.

"Because I'm not leaving."

Daniel stared at her.

And for the first time…

He didn't argue.

Midday

The mansion gates stood tall.

Just like before.

Unchanged.

But this time…

Daniel wasn't outside in the rain.

He walked forward.

Calm.

Steady.

Like he belonged there.

The guards stepped forward immediately.

"Stop right there."

Daniel didn't stop.

"I said—"

He moved.

Fast.

Two steps.

Two strikes.

Both guards down.

Silence.

The gates opened slowly.

Inside the Mansion

The atmosphere changed instantly.

Servants froze.

Security alerted.

Tension rising.

Daniel walked in like he owned the place.

Lena followed behind.

Heart pounding.

"This place…" she whispered.

Daniel didn't respond.

His eyes scanned everything.

Nothing had changed.

And yet…

Everything felt different.

Living Room

Jason stood there.

Waiting.

Like he knew this would happen.

Like he had been expecting it.

"Welcome back," he said calmly.

Silence filled the room.

Lena felt the tension immediately.

This wasn't normal.

This wasn't just two people meeting.

This was something deeper.

Something dangerous.

Daniel stepped forward.

Slow.

Controlled.

"You planned everything," he said.

Jason smiled slightly.

"I prefer the word… prepared."

Lena's heart raced.

"…You replaced him on purpose?" she asked.

Jason's eyes shifted to her briefly.

"Of course."

No hesitation.

No guilt.

Just truth.

Flashback (Lena's realization)

The smile.

The silence.

The way Jason never seemed surprised.

Back to Present

"You ruined his life!" Lena snapped.

Jason tilted his head slightly.

"Did I?"

A pause.

"Or did I give him a reason to become who he is now?"

Daniel's eyes darkened.

"You don't get to take credit for that."

Jason chuckled softly.

"But I do."

Silence.

Then—

Jason stepped forward.

"You were always meant for more, Daniel."

A pause.

"I just… helped you realize it."

Lena clenched her fists.

"He's insane…"

Daniel didn't respond.

Because something else caught his attention.

A detail.

Small.

But important.

Jason's watch.

A symbol on it.

The same one…

From the notebook.

Daniel's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…You're connected to him," he said.

Jason smiled.

"Now you're catching up."

The air shifted instantly.

Because this wasn't just family drama anymore.

This was bigger.

Much bigger.

Final Moment

Jason stepped closer.

Face to face with Daniel.

"No more running," he said softly.

Daniel didn't move.

"No more hiding."

A pause.

Jason's smile widened slightly.

"Let's see what you've become."

Silence.

Heavy.

Explosive.

Because the war…

Had officially begun

Do think Daniel can outsmart Jason... Or is he already trapped?
