Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Monster They Didn't See

The air went still.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Then—

Daniel took a step forward.

And everything exploded.

He moved first.

Fast.

Too fast.

Before anyone could react—

He was already in front of them.

A strike—

Clean.

The man holding Lena flew back—

Crashing into the side of the car.

Lena stumbled free.

Her heart racing.

"Daniel—!"

"Stay back," he said.

His voice calm.

Cold.

She froze.

Because that voice…

It wasn't the one she remembered.

The others attacked at once.

Four of them.

Coordinated.

Precise.

But Daniel—

Didn't hesitate.

He stepped in.

Dodged the first punch—

Blocked the second—

Then countered—

Fast.

Sharp.

One down.

Another came from behind—

Daniel turned—

Elbow strike—

Direct.

Two down.

The third lunged with full force—

Daniel caught his arm—

Twisted—

A crack echoed.

A scream followed.

Three.

The last one hesitated.

Just for a second.

And that was enough.

Daniel stepped forward—

And ended it.

Silence.

Heavy.

Unreal.

Four men—

Down.

Lena stared.

Her hands trembling.

"…Daniel…"

He stood there.

Unmoved.

Untouched.

Like it was nothing.

Like they were nothing.

Then—

He turned.

And walked toward her.

Step by step.

Lena's heart pounded harder.

Because the closer he got…

The more she realized—

Something about him had changed.

Not just physically.

Something deeper.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

His voice softer now.

Familiar.

But still…

Different.

Lena nodded slowly.

"I… I think so…"

A pause.

Then—

She stepped closer.

"Daniel, what's going on? Who are these people? Why are they after me?"

Silence.

For a moment—

He didn't answer.

Then—

"They're not after you," he said quietly.

Lena frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Daniel's gaze shifted slightly.

Toward the men on the ground.

"They're after me."

Her breath caught.

"But… why?"

A pause.

And then—

Something unexpected happened.

Daniel smiled.

Not cold.

Not empty.

But calm.

Too calm.

"Because I let them."

Lena froze.

"…What?"

The man who had saved her earlier stepped forward quickly.

"Daniel, what are you—"

"Relax," Daniel cut in.

His eyes sharp.

Focused.

"I needed to confirm something."

Silence.

The driver stared at him.

"…Confirm what?"

Daniel looked down at one of the fallen men.

Then—

Back up.

"They're not the real threat."

A pause.

"They're just the beginning."

Lena's heart dropped.

"What are you talking about…?"

Before he could answer—

A slow clap echoed in the distance.

Everyone froze.

From the shadows—

A figure stepped forward.

Calm.

Composed.

Watching.

"I was wondering when you'd figure it out."

Daniel's expression didn't change.

"…You took your time," he said.

Lena looked between them.

Confused.

"You know him?" she asked.

Silence.

Then—

Daniel spoke.

"Yes."

A pause.

"And that's the problem."

The man smiled.

"Still as sharp as ever."

Lena's chest tightened.

"…Daniel… who is he?"

Daniel's eyes darkened slightly.

And when he spoke—

His voice carried something heavy.

"Someone I should've stayed away from."

The air grew colder.

Tense.

Unpredictable.

Because the fight they just saw…

Was nothing.

Compared to what was coming next.

Who is the man in the shadows... And what is his connection to Daniel?
