"Welcome to Filmworld."
Five staff members greeted them, each wearing the same practiced smile as they stepped into the cinema building.
The lobby of the cinema building looked too polished to belong to ordinary people. It was nothing like the cinemas Vessara had even visited with Anthea. Marble floors reflected the soft gold light overhead, and the scent of buttered popcorn, mixed with expensive cologne, hung thick in the air.
Vael gave a slight nod. The attention alone made Vessara straighten unconsciously beside him. She can't seem to get used to people opening doors for her and speaking with such careful politeness.
"Please come with me, sir."
One of the staff led them down a quieter hallway lined with framed movie posters and dim wall lights.
Vessara kept stealing glances at Vael as they walked. He moved with such ease as someone accustomed to spaces like this. Meanwhile, she still felt like she was trespassing inside another person's life.
