There were moments when Vessara said simple things that revealed far more than she intended. She smiled too easily, laughed easily, but there was something underneath it. Like some exhaustion, she hid behind the brightness.
She had even pointed vaguely towards him and commented that Vael has this look of his brain fighting itself. He had told her she sounded ridiculous, even as his gaze lingered on her.
"Please tell me that's all," Vessara said.
"Not yet. Try this one, miss. It'll suit your figure beautifully." Lorena replied, a smile still plastered on her face.
Vessara let out a loud sigh before taking it. "Last one, please." Then she looked at Vael. "You have my phone, right? If I disappear in there forever, call my best friend first and tell her I fought bravely."
The staff laughed. Even Vael smiled without stopping it. He realized something unsettling as he watched her vanish again.
