When the song finally ended, Vessara dropped back onto the seat beside him. She was panting.
"That was…so…fun!" She breathed between laughs.
Vael handed her the bottle of water. When their fingers brushed, the warmth spread through her chest too quickly. She drank the contents to half before turning toward him.
"Your turn."
"No."
"You didn't even think about it."
"I don't sing."
"You definitely do." She countered.
"I don't."
Vessara narrowed her eyes suspiciously before moving closer. "You are avoiding it because you'll probably be good."
"That's not happening."
"Oh…come on." She persisted.
Vael remained unmoved. Vessara stood up, grabbed his wrist with both hands, and tried to tug him upward. "One song. Please."
"No."
"Half a song. Please."
"No."
"You're boring."
"I'm aware."
Vessara laughed again, pulling harder despite his refusal. The effort was useless. Vael barely moved at all while she struggled against him.
