The slight blur at the edges of Vessara's vision was gone. The alcohol had worn off completely, leaving behind a clean and sharp dread. Vessara still sat at the edge of the bed, her fingers pressed lightly against her chest. Her heart was beating fast, each thump hard, knocking against her ribs. She tried to steady her breathing.
Her thoughts moved in a frantic loop as she waited for Vael.
"What am I really thinking…" she muttered under her breath.
She replayed the scenes in her mind over again, leaving the party without telling anyone, getting into the car of a man whose name she didn't know, drinking alcohol, getting drunk, giving a stranger a blowjob, and then coming home with him to have sex.
She pressed her lips together. For a moment, she allowed herself to feel the weight of her own decision truly. It was a weird and dangerous thing to do.
"Should I go or should I stay?" Vessara whispered, though she didn't move.
