Chapter 37 - A Brand New Version of the Power of Faith

"Windguides," a name that held progressive significance while fitting perfectly into the magical style of Runeterra, received unanimous approval from all members the moment Levi proposed it.

Thus, the organization's official name was established: the Windguide Association.

Official members were called Windguides. Levi served as the president, and Viktor as the vice president.

Now, they had everything: an ultimate goal, short-term objectives, a feasibility analysis, a course of action, and an organizational structure.

All that remained was to discuss how to carry out the specific work and how to begin targeted propaganda.

When it came to this, Levi was not as talkative.

It was the same old problem: he was merely an armchair general. He was fine at discussing theory and conducting analysis, but when it came to grassroots practice, he was no better than anyone else.

Therefore, Levi handed this problem over to the students, letting them think for themselves, discuss it among themselves, and try to come up with a feasible propaganda work plan.

It did not matter if their discussions yielded no results.

They would have to learn by doing eventually anyway.

"Everyone, feel free to think boldly, and then carefully verify your ideas in practice," Levi encouraged the students.

"Don't be afraid of facing setbacks or trouble. This is everyone's first time putting this into practice. It's normal for problems to arise; it would be abnormal if they didn't."

"We Windguides are not afraid of failure. If we fail, we will summarize our experiences, reflect on our lessons, and there will always come a day when we make progress."

Levi's encouragement quickly sparked a widespread and earnest discussion among the students.

Taking advantage of this gap, he finally found the time to have a proper chat with Janna.

'Janna?'

Levi communicated with Janna through his thoughts, deeply concerned. 'Why have we gotten so much stronger?'

As he thought this, he secretly condensed a miniature tornado in his palm.

When he first arrived here, Levi had to use every ounce of his strength just to condense a weak current of air in front of Viktor and the students, draining all of his and Janna's power.

But now, Levi could command the wind elements as easily as moving his own arm, effortlessly manipulating air currents and condensing masses of wind—

Although it was not yet incredibly powerful, it was already genuine wind magic.

Yes, he had grown stronger.

And he had grown much stronger.

'Mr. Summoner, that is naturally because we have more believers now,' Janna replied in his mind.

'I know that.' Levi was certainly aware.

Currently, there were sixty official members of the Windguides. Not counting Viktor, who was already a believer, there were fifty-nine new believers.

Janna's power would naturally recover to some extent.

However, Levi remembered Janna saying that Viktor possessed a naturally powerful spirit, and the Power of Faith he contributed alone was greater than that of over a hundred ordinary people.

Now, with a total of fifty-nine new believers, theoretically, even if Janna grew stronger, she shouldn't be that much stronger than before.

Yet at this very moment, Levi felt a powerful divine force filling his entire body, strengthening his muscles and skeleton. Even his previous injuries, which had remained unhealed for a long time, were rapidly recovering at a visible rate.

This was more than just growing stronger.

'It feels like we've grown more than ten times stronger...'

'Yes,' Janna replied. 'More than ten times, far more than that.'

'Eh?' Levi paused in slight surprise.

More than ten times?

It was a known fact that Janna originally only had Viktor as a believer, and the Power of Faith provided by one Viktor exceeded that of a hundred mortals.

Now, with fifty-nine new believers, theoretically, fifty-nine people were less than a hundred people, which was less than one Viktor.

So how could Janna's extra power be far greater than ten Viktors, making her more than ten times stronger?

Fifty-nine was greater than ten Viktors, which was greater than a thousand?

This inequality was highly perplexing.

At this moment, Janna answered, 'Because these students are not ordinary people either.'

'Although their spiritual power is not as great as Viktor's, it is still far stronger than that of ordinary citizens.'

'This...' Levi was awakened by Janna's words.

That was right!

Where were they?

This was the highest institution of learning in Piltover, the technological sanctuary of Runeterra!

Who were these students?

They were future scientists, the brightest minds who had clawed their way up through fierce competition from among millions of Zaunites!

In a hellhole like Zaun, drinking polluted water, breathing toxic gas, and suffering from hunger, they had to work their fingers to the bone to save up for tuition while self-studying academic knowledge. Then, they had to fairly and squarely defeat those Piltovan students in exams to be successfully admitted to the University of Piltover...

Could people who accomplished all that really be considered ordinary?

In this world where supernatural powers existed, how could the spiritual power of those who survived such agonizing trials not be strong?

'So the Power of Faith provided by just these fifty-nine students is already equivalent to that of over a thousand people.'

'Furthermore,' she paused, clearly placing importance on her next words, 'Mr. Summoner, after you detailed the contents of Janna Thought and the meaning of faith to everyone, those believers—including Mr. Viktor from the very beginning—'

'Their Power of Faith has become much more "pure."'

'What do you mean?' Levi asked in confusion.

'It means that even though it is the exact same person providing the same amount of the Power of Faith, the resulting power bestowed upon us has become stronger.'

'Janna, do you mean...'

Levi tried to understand Janna as a car, and the Power of Faith provided by her followers as the fuel that drove the car.

'The "gasoline" they are pumping into you is purer, and its energy density has increased?

So even though it's still one person's worth of faith, it's stronger than the original one person's worth.'

'You could say that...' Although she found the analogy a bit strange, Janna still agreed. 'And not only has it increased, but it is also higher than that of all the believers who worshipped me in the past. Much higher.'

'I have never seen a situation like this before.'

The goddess, who had lived for thousands of years, also seemed quite puzzled—

So the "quality" of the Power of Faith could actually change?

'I understand now...' Levi realized something. 'It's because our current faith is completely different from any faith that has ever appeared in Runeterra before!'

In the past, believers who followed gods mostly wanted to gain something from them. Their thoughts were always, 'May the gods bless me with this or that.'

Even if they sacrificed themselves for a god, they were only thinking about what they would get in the celestial realm after death, or what they would be reincarnated as in their next life.

But the Windguides who followed Janna were all thinking about dedicating themselves and sacrificing for an ideal. Their thoughts were, 'I will fight for our great cause for the rest of my life!'

Even if they sacrificed themselves for their faith, their only thought was to achieve their ideals with their blood and pave the way with their sacrifice!

'We are willing to give everything for our ideals, including our lives.'

'Our faith is different!'

'Therefore, we are purer than the believers of any old gods. Janna, your power—our power—will also be stronger than that of any old god!'

Levi's words, along with that unprecedented, "brand new version" of powerful faith, left even the goddess Janna deeply shaken.

Even in her prime, she was only a demigod, incomparable to those truly powerful celestial Aspects or cosmic wanderers.

Not to mention that the Freljord had the Three Gods, Bilgewater had the Sea God, and Ionia had the "Spirit of Ionia"...

Aside from gods, there were also all sorts of powerful demons running rampant across Runeterra.

The Ancient Fear, the Widowmaker, the River King...

These terrifying demons, who fed on negative emotions, would certainly not like Janna's overly radiant faith.

Not to mention the undead of the underworld and the invaders of the Void, who were still active in various corners of Runeterra today.

Therefore, although Janna acknowledged Levi's ideals and had even become a follower of those ideals herself, she had not previously believed that this wind of change could blow across the entirety of Runeterra.

Even Levi himself did not quite believe he could achieve it in his lifetime.

He only hoped to make a start and then leave the rest for future generations to complete.

After all, Runeterra was too vast.

And there were too many powerful beings.

Stirring up the winds of change recklessly everywhere would easily get them crushed.

'But things are different now.'

Levi's confidence ignited, and even Janna could not help but feel invigorated:

'After thousands of years of development, the population of Runeterra is far greater than it was during your prime.'

'And our newborn faith is the most powerful and vibrant faith of all!'

'The wind of change—'

'Will definitely blow across all of Runeterra!'
