Lecturing?
What kind of lecture could a crude Zaunite apprentice give to the geniuses of the University of Piltover?
Caitlyn and her group, curious yet vigilant, slowly approached the outside of the classroom where the suspect was located.
Hiding around the corner, they peered carefully through the window.
The criminal, Levi, was indeed inside.
And he actually seemed to be discussing and exchanging ideas with those genius students.
Judging from the students' attitudes toward Levi, they genuinely seemed to treat this Zaunite apprentice as a respected and revered teacher.
Then, listening to the content of their discussion:
Things like "technological advantage," "value conversion," "critical path," "empowerment," "leverage points," "pain points," "market verticals," "lifecycle," and "ecosystem synergy"...
It didn't sound like a lecture at all, but rather like they were discussing some kind of business venture?
Wait... and that curly-haired man with a scholarly air who was chatting so enthusiastically with Levi—
Wasn't that Jayce's best friend, Professor Viktor?
Caitlyn was essentially Jayce's childhood friend, and her House Kiramman had once been the sponsor supporting Jayce's research. The ties between the two had always been very close.
Therefore, Caitlyn had some impression of Viktor, knowing that this relatively unknown man was actually quite extraordinary.
But how could such an academic titan be mixing with a violent Zaunite criminal?
And discussing business together, no less?
"Officer," Caitlyn couldn't help but whisper to the veteran Enforcer leading the squad. "Is this guy really the suspect we're looking for?"
How did this vicious, barbaric Zaunite—who supposedly beat someone to the point of severe injury, committed public robbery, and carried contraband drugs—look more shrewd, capable, and cultured than her family's financial steward?
"Uh... well..."
The veteran officer also seemed somewhat bewildered by the situation unfolding before them.
But the information provided by their superiors was highly detailed. The photographs of Levi and Lina were crystal clear, and both had distinct, recognizable features. It was impossible to make a mistake.
"Miss Kiramman, you still shouldn't let your guard down. Many Zaunites are like this. They look honest and harmless, even gentle and scholarly, but—"
"I understand, Officer," Caitlyn nodded solemnly.
She gripped her rifle tightly, constantly prepared to guard against Levi tearing off his mask in desperation and lashing out like a cornered beast, slaughtering the professor and students in the classroom.
"Alright, let's deploy into breach formation and prepare to kick down the door for the arrest!"
"Miss Kiramman, you'll be responsible for hiding—ahem—providing long-range fire support from behind us."
With that, the veteran officer nodded to his subordinates.
Then, as if rehearsed in advance, the two most burly Enforcers took the front to breach the door, while the rest stood shoulder-to-shoulder to form a double human wall, blocking Caitlyn completely from the front.
Let alone providing long-range fire support from the rear, she would need a stool to stand on just to see the suspect.
Caitlyn was speechless.
"Officer, with all due respect—what kind of breach formation is this?"
"I certainly don't remember the training manuals teaching this!"
"Miss Kiramman," the veteran officer did not back down this time. "Please don't make this difficult for me. Sheriff Marcus never intended for you to participate in this mission to begin with. You were the one who insisted on tagging along..."
"Bringing you here privately is already a violation of my superior's orders, so please just cooperate with us as best you can!"
"Sigh..." Her deep blue eyes were filled with helplessness. "Even so, you don't need to go to this extent. I'm not some rookie; I don't need you using your bodies to shield me from bullets."
"I know you're highly skilled, but..." The veteran officer couldn't help but speak the truth. "If anything happens to you here, our fate will be far worse than taking a bullet."
Caitlyn fell silent.
She couldn't help but look at the custom-made Hextech precision rifle in her hands, tailored specifically for her by her family. This firearm possessed the utmost accuracy, power, and stability, equipped with various types of specialized ammunition and modification accessories. It could easily be called the king of guns in Piltover.
This single rifle alone was worth several years of an ordinary Enforcer's salary.
Perhaps her dream of being an ordinary Enforcer had been a joke from the very beginning.
"Miss Kiramman—"
"Are you ready?"
"Yes," Caitlyn replied dejectedly, ducking behind the human wall.
The breach began.
Levi had pulled in Seraphine, the representative of their investors, and Viktor, the representative of their technical side, to discuss their upcoming business operations plan in detail.
Of course, the main participants in the discussion were Levi and Viktor.
Seraphine was only responsible for saying "Mhm," "Right," and "Okay," while blinking her large eyes and pretending to listen earnestly—it couldn't be helped, she really couldn't muster a shred of interest in doing business.
And just as Levi had finalized the organization's fundraising plan and was chatting enthusiastically, suddenly...
Janna warned him that there were many extra breathing sounds outside the classroom.
Quite a few people were approaching.
'Who could it be?' Though vigilant, Levi didn't overthink it.
He was just about to take the initiative and go take a look, but the moment he reached the classroom door, it was violently kicked open from the outside.
"Open up! Nobody move!"
A group of burly men formed into a human wall charged in.
Then, seven or eight pistols and rifles were indiscriminately aimed right at Levi's head. The pitch-black muzzles instantly formed an invisible net, trapping him firmly in the center of their crossfire.
"Levi, put your hands in the air!"
"Holy shit! Enforcers?!"
Levi was startled by the scene.
The Windguides hadn't even done anything yet, and the Enforcers were already knocking on their door. This...
'The work efficiency of these Piltovan Enforcers is too Tahm-damned high, isn't it?'
Their organization had been established for less than an hour!
'How did the enemy find out about this?'
Seeing this unexpected turn of events, even Levi was shocked. The students were even more caught off guard, terrified by the Enforcers' sudden descent from the heavens.
Levi could even sense through Janna that in the short dozen seconds following this sudden crisis...
...the threads of faith of several students had grown dim and ashen, flickering in and out of existence, teetering on the verge of collapse.
'As expected, even with faith, they might not be able to withstand the myriad of trials to come.'
'The hot-blooded passion they have when criticizing the world often proves useless when it's actually time to bleed for it,' Levi sighed softly in his mind.
But this was human nature. He himself had been startled by the Enforcers, so of course he could understand the instinctive fear these young students felt when facing enemy gun barrels and the prospect of bloody sacrifice.
Levi knew that right now, he shouldn't condemn them for being cowardly. Instead, he needed to do his best to display the bravery and fearlessness of a Windguide to inspire confidence in his comrades.
Even if he couldn't inspire confidence, he at least had to leave behind a tragic and heroic tale of "beheading matters not" for those who would come after.
Otherwise, if on the very first day of their ideal taking flight, even he, the founder, made a fool of himself with cowardly excuses or talk of selling out Zaun to save it...
...then Janna's faith, and the ideal he had been pursuing since his past life, would likely suffer a pathetic, premature death right here.
Thus, while secretly circulating the divine power within his body, preparing for a desperate fight to the death, Levi tried his best to act like a noble and transcendent martyr. With a calm expression, he asked the Enforcers:
"Officers, may I ask what business you have with me?"
"Hmph!" The veteran officer leading the squad scoffed coldly. "Still playing dumb?"
"Levi, you assaulted a Piltovan citizen in the streets, causing severe injuries, publicly robbed a citizen's property, and are in possession of the contraband drug Shimmer—we are here to arrest you, you violent criminal!"
"Oh, so you're just here to arrest me?" Levi suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. "Then it's fine."
The Enforcers were completely bewildered.
"Wait..."
Levi suddenly realized what had just been said.
"Assault? Robbery? Me?"
"Motherfucker! That bastard Aubrey actually called the cops?"
'This Zaunite gang that traffics humans, runs loan shark rackets, smuggles contraband, and pimps out prostitutes actually went and called the fucking cops!'
Levi instinctively looked at Seraphine.
"Mr. Levi, don't worry—"
Seraphine's innocent, ignorant, and clear eyes suddenly seemed to be brimming with wisdom.
"I already took these circumstances into consideration for you!"
