Chapter 23: I Plan to Go Traveling
The human physiology in the world of One Piece possesses unique properties; the energy contained within their cells is several times greater than that of humans in the Shinobi world.
Because of this, the speed at which Robin refined Chakra was not inferior to a pure-blooded member of the Senju Clan at all—in fact, there was a tendency for her to even surpass them.
As long as she possessed the qualifications to refine Chakra, matching someone like Tsunade was merely a matter of time.
For Robin, having the Senju lineage was something that was "nice to have," but not strictly necessary. The quality of her own body was already on par with the Senju.
Of course, she still couldn't be compared to Hashirama, who was an extraordinary user of the Sage Body. After all, Hashirama himself was a special existence.
Once the cell fusion was complete and Robin gained the ability to refine Chakra, Tsunade taught her the secret Chakra extraction techniques of the Senju Clan and personally guided her on how to perform the refinement.
Robin did not disappoint their expectations. During her very first attempt, she refined a truly shocking amount of Chakra.
If it were a human from the Shinobi world, performing such a large-scale extraction would have left their cells completely drained and could have even caused physical damage to the body. Yet, Robin felt nothing at all. This caused Tsunade to once again marvel at the physical quality of humans from the One Piece world.
Truly, they are incredibly impressive.
Once Robin mastered the extraction technique, Tsunade handed over the responsibility of teaching Ninjutsu to her first grandfather, Hashirama Senju. As for herself, she entered the laboratory alongside Shizune to begin unraveling the secrets of Devil Fruits with Tobirama and Orochimaru.
Regarding this arrangement, Robin had no complaints. To be personally tutored in Ninjutsu by the God of Shinobi—what more could one possibly ask for?
And so, during the day, Yumesaki would send Robin back to the One Piece world to work leisurely at Crocodile's side. At night, Yumesaki would pick her up and bring her to Orochimaru's secret base to study Ninjutsu.
Life became very busy.
After learning the Clone Technique, Robin sent a clone of herself to stay by Crocodile's side. She then spent the rest of her days at the secret base, refining her Chakra while studying Ninjutsu under Hashirama.
In less than a few days, Robin had not only mastered the Tree Climbing and Water Walking exercises, but her total Chakra reserves were already comparable to a Konoha Genin. Furthermore, she had even mastered several Water Release techniques.
As for why she chose to learn Water Release, it was, of course, a little surprise prepared specifically for Crocodile.
It was common knowledge that Crocodile's greatest weakness was water. In the original storyline, Luffy managed to defeat him by exploiting that very point. Robin certainly hadn't forgotten this, so while learning Ninjutsu—alongside the Three Basic Jutsu of Clone, Transformation, and Substitution—the first thing she focused on was Water Release.
The moment she had a falling out with Crocodile, relying on these water techniques would allow her to catch him completely off guard. If luck was on her side, she might even be able to land a lethal counterattack. After all, in Crocodile's eyes, Robin was just an ordinary person; aside from the knowledge in her head, she wasn't worth prioritizing as a threat.
And when a supposedly "weak" person suddenly unleashes a power that has never been seen before, it becomes very easy to succeed with a sneak attack. Of course, such an opportunity would only come once. If it failed, she would have no choice but to fight him head-on.
On the other hand, after staying inside Orochimaru's secret base for several days, Yumesaki was starting to feel a bit bored.
Orochimaru, Tobirama, Tsunade, Shizune, and Kabuto were working tirelessly to crack the mystery of the Devil Fruits, completely losing track of time. Robin, in her pursuit of strength, was also capable of enduring the silence. As for Hashirama, there was no need to even mention it—his will was as hard as steel, and this monk-like lifestyle was nothing to him. He felt nothing at all.
Only Yumesaki, despite possessing the power to cross between worlds, was still ultimately an ordinary guy. After living in Orochimaru's base for a few days, he felt as if he were in prison, bored to the point of desperation.
Thus, during dinner one evening, Yumesaki proposed that he wanted to go for a stroll in the One Piece world.
"Where do you want to go?" Tsunade asked curiously.
"Baratie, the Floating Restaurant." Yumesaki thought for a moment before adding, "I want to go taste how delicious the food made by that restaurant really is."
"Fine by me."
Tsunade agreed without a second thought. Yumesaki was her friend, not her prisoner; she obviously couldn't lock him up here and forbid him from leaving. Moreover, if Yumesaki really wanted to go, they couldn't stop him anyway.
Tsunade pondered for a bit before saying, "However, your safety is paramount. Since the Second Grandfather, Orochimaru, and I are busy researching the Devil Fruits, we probably won't be able to protect you directly."
"So, for this trip to Baratie, you'll be accompanied by the First Grandfather. He will protect you personally."
Even though Hashirama was currently in his Edo Tensei state and his power wasn't even half of what it was at his peak, it was still nearly impossible even for someone at the level of an Admiral or higher to defeat the current Hashirama Senju. With the First Grandfather acting as a bodyguard, Tsunade felt perfectly at ease.
Hashirama also understood Yumesaki's importance. He patted his chest and declared, "Don't worry, leave this matter to me."
Yumesaki glanced at Hashirama briefly and nodded. Although his personal bodyguard had changed from a beautiful woman who was easy on the eyes to a goofy, simple-minded man, Yumesaki didn't mind. After all, Hashirama's strength was immense; the sense of security he provided was even higher than Tsunade's.
And so, the next morning, Yumesaki set off with Hashirama.
First, they crossed from the Naruto world into the One Piece world, heading straight for Nanohana, the port city in the Kingdom of Alabasta.
To Yumesaki's surprise, however, Robin—who had disguised herself as Tsunade—actually joined the trip to the floating restaurant as well. Her reason was very simple: she knew the way.
Against this reasoning, neither Yumesaki nor Hashirama had any way to refuse. After all, for two people who had only ever read the manga, trying to reach the East Blue from the Grand Line was not a simple task, no matter how you looked at it.
Initially, the two had planned to hitch a ride on a ship heading for the East Blue. But now, with Robin joining them, there was no need to look for a ride.
As for Crocodile's side, Robin had left a clone behind. Since Crocodile didn't possess Chakra and didn't know Ninjutsu, he wouldn't be able to see through the fact that it was just a clone at all. Furthermore, Nico Robin had left a Transponder Snail for the clone, making it easy for her and the clone to exchange information. She wasn't afraid of being exposed in the slightest.
Even if things went south and she was discovered, it wouldn't be a problem. The current Robin no longer needed Crocodile's protection. Even if she were found by the World Government, the worst-case scenario was simply moving to the Naruto world with Yumesaki. She didn't believe the World Government could chase her all the way there. If they were truly that capable, they would have conquered the heavens a long time ago.
A day later, the three of them boarded an Amphibious Transport Turtle and arrived at the port city of Nanohana.
