Chapter 24 - Seasickness and the Flu

Chapter 24: Seasickness and the Flu

The Amphibious Transport Turtle was a species of giant turtle, large enough to carry humans. It possessed the ability to move both on land and in water, navigating both surfaces with ease. When Robin first appeared, she had used this very mode of transport.

However, these creatures had a drawback: they didn't offer any protection against the wind or rain. Moving between two nearby islands wasn't an issue, but if one wanted to travel around the Grand Line, it simply wasn't realistic.

Thus, to get to Baratie in the East Blue from Alabasta, riding the turtle wasn't an option; they still needed a ship. Because of this, once the three of them arrived in Nanohana, Robin dropped the turtle off at a stable and planned to acquire a vessel.

"There's no need for that."

Yumesaki stopped Robin, pointed at Hashirama, and said, "With him around, are you still worried about not having a ship?"

Hashirama let out a boisterous laugh, slapped his chest, and said, "Don't you worry, leave it to me!"

Once they reached the shore, Hashirama clapped his hands together.

"Wood Release: Shipbuilding Technique!"

In an instant, a small wooden sailing ship rose from the ground, manifesting right before their eyes.

Strictly speaking, there wasn't actually a technique called "Shipbuilding" within the Wood Release repertoire. The thing was, Hashirama had been playing around with Wood Release in so many variations for so long that using it to create a ship was as easy as breathing for him. Even Yamato could use Wood Release to build houses; Hashirama could naturally use it to craft a ship.

Yumesaki estimated that if Hashirama were allowed to open a shipyard, he could drive all his competitors out of business. For other shipyards, the process—from raw materials to processing, assembly, and finally launching—would take at least a month or longer. But for Hashirama, as long as he had a blueprint, creating a massive ship was just a matter of a single second. Who could possibly compete with that? It would only be a matter of time before everyone went bankrupt.

Unfortunately, no matter how naive Hashirama could be, it was impossible for him to quit being a ninja to become a shipwright. All the shipyards in the world should be grateful for that fact.

With their sailing ship ready, the three of them set out to sea smoothly, heading straight for Reverse Mountain.

This was Yumesaki's first time out on the open ocean, especially on a wooden sailing vessel, and the experience was quite thrilling. However, it wasn't long before symptoms like dizziness and nausea began to hit him one after another. Yumesaki realized with a shock that he was... apparently... maybe... just a little bit... seasick.

Ah, this was something Yumesaki hadn't expected at all. He actually got seasick.

"It's your first time on a ship; getting seasick is perfectly normal," Robin said calmly. "Try eating more fruit."

Yumesaki couldn't help but complain, "Does that even have anything to do with eating fruit?"

Robin shrugged. "Well, what else can you do? There's no medicine on board."

That sentence actually reminded Yumesaki of something. There was no seasickness medicine on the ship, but there was plenty in his own world.

He immediately returned to his world, went to a pharmacy, and bought a box of seasickness pills. After taking the medicine and waiting for half an hour for the effects to kick in, Yumesaki returned to the ship through his bedroom door.

However, the moment he pushed open the cabin door and stepped back onto the deck, a bone-chilling cold swept over his body. This cold came so suddenly that Yumesaki let out a loud sneeze. He looked up and was instantly stunned.

The sea, which had been bright and sunny just moments ago, was now covered in falling snow—and it was a heavy blizzard at that. The entire deck was already covered in a thick layer of snow, everything turned a silvery white.

Robin had already changed into thick clothes. She said with a calm face, "This is just how the weather is in the Grand Line. The line between a clear sky and a blizzard is paper-thin."

"Wasn't this explained in the manga?"

Yumesaki: "..."

Fine, he admitted that this detail had indeed been explained in the manga. The problem was that he had forgotten it a long time ago. After all, a tiny detail like that was practically nothing in such a long series. Who would have thought that after crossing into the Grand Line, he would actually encounter such extreme weather?

For a moment, Yumesaki didn't even know how to complain anymore. In the end, he could only quickly head back to his world, change into a heavy down jacket, and return.

As for Hashirama, since he was currently in an Edo Tensei body, he didn't feel anything at all. Extreme heat and extreme cold were the same to him; there was absolutely no need to change clothes.

And so, Yumesaki's group sailed through the Grand Line for several days under its unpredictable, shifting weather. Without fail, Yumesaki eventually came down with the flu.

Looking at Yumesaki lying in bed with a fever, Robin couldn't help but remark, "Your physical constitution is way too weak."

Yumesaki gave her a sharp glare. Could he really be blamed for this? If anyone was to blame, it was the Grand Line's weather for being truly atrocious.

No wonder pirate crews from the four blues rarely returned after entering the Grand Line. It wasn't that they weren't willing; it was that ninety percent of them died in the Grand Line before they even got the chance. The shifting weather was truly a nightmare for people. He couldn't take it—he really couldn't take it.

"I won't be visiting the Grand Line for the next few days," Yumesaki said after much thought, deciding to give up for the time being. "I'll come find you once you guys have entered the East Blue."

Seeing Yumesaki's fragile state, Robin sighed. "That's probably for the best."

So, Yumesaki rested peacefully at his own home to treat his flu.

Two days later, Yumesaki had fully recovered. He pushed open his bedroom door and popped into the One Piece world for a quick look. Finding the sailing ship still navigating the Grand Line, he went back to play games and read manga at home.

Over the next few days, he would check into the One Piece world every day. As long as the ship was still in the Grand Line, Yumesaki would return to his own world to play games. Occasionally, he would also drop by the Naruto world, entering Orochimaru's secret base to check on the progress of their experiments.

Tobirama told Yumesaki with a smile that things were currently going smoothly. If nothing unexpected happened, the secrets of the Devil Fruits would soon be unraveled, and they might even be able to create entirely new ones.

However, when Yumesaki curiously asked, "How soon is 'soon'?" Tobirama went silent. Even the smile on his face vanished without a trace. Perhaps he was just naturally not the smiling type.

Seeing that reaction, Yumesaki immediately understood and tactfully dropped the subject. It was clear that the Devil Fruit research was a heavy task with a long road ahead.

In this manner, he relaxed for about four more days.

This morning, Yumesaki woke up, went downstairs to eat, and grabbed an extra serving of breakfast for Robin before returning to the One Piece world.

When he found Robin on the deck, she greeted him with a smile. "We've arrived in the East Blue."

Yumesaki turned his head to look, and sure enough, he saw a majestic mountain peak.

Reverse Mountain.

It turned out that just last night, while Yumesaki was sleeping soundly in his own world, Robin and Hashirama had successfully steered the ship over Reverse Mountain and arrived in the East Blue.
