Chapter 7 - Awakening

"Ugh... Fuck..."

There was a groan followed by cursing, at a single person apartment in the middle of the night.

Graham woke up feeling so much pain, like his skull was being crushed down to powder by a hammer.

The pain was almost a 100 times worse, even compared to his first and last hangover at his college days.

Especially since getting fused with a God's even if it's still a tiny piece of it and getting infused with millions of years of worth memories is no easy task.

The only silver lining is that since both were originally parts of a single soul, there were no side effects aside from the pain.

( Soul possession is very dangerous for the possessor and the possessed that no one attempts it except for maybe some madmen, because a single mistake can lead to both of the souls getting sucked into the reincarnation cycle and losing their life. )

While clutching his head, he sat in silence, trying to sort out his memories. Since that's about the only thing he could do now to reduce the pain.

Only after a day and a half did he finally sort out everything and learned the reason for his reincarnation from the system notifications in head.

But the moment he opened his eyes and remembered the cowardly Gods and their betrayal, the whole Earth trembled from his Fury due to his soul strength that grew beyond mortal limits after the fusion.

"Just wash your necks and wait for me..."

"I'll crush you like the pathetic bugs you are..."

Vowing to himself, he retracted his aura and threw those thoughts to the back of his mind, since it's still too far in the future.

"Let's focus on the present... For now...",

As he only got the memories without living it himself once again, they were almost a blur to him expect for those associated with intense emotions. But still they helped him, in getting over the grief of losing his parents.

So after the initial outburst, his emotional state returned back to before losing his parents, a cheery young man who has a habit of talking to himself sometimes. Mainly because he couldn't talk freely about his nightmare to someone else all the time.

That doesn't mean he is easily influenced. No, he just learned to express his emotions without them weighing him down.

After assessing his body with his soul strength and seeing his skinny frame that's been completed filled with toned muscles, he whistled in admiration feeling like he had been reborn.

"Though technically, I did die and came back to life after millions of years..."

"Well, let's not sweat the small stuff.

Also how long has it been since I fell unconscious?"

Mumbling to himself he took out his phone from the bed to check the date and found himself at a loss for words.

First due to the date and second due to the long list of notifications piled up in his smartphone.

Date: July 5

"Damn !!! It's been 31 days ???"

"Hmm... The last day was spent in mediation. So, I've been unconscious for 30 days huh..."

"How is my phone still active after a month you ask? Cause I plugged it in for charging just before going to celebrating my birthday and falling unconscious right after."

"And what? I've been fired from due to not going to work for almost a month and not attending any calls."

"Well not like I was eager to do it after everything I've been through, but still..."

"At least the landlord is patient, he hasn't called me once."

Just then he heard a knock on his apartment door followed by a gruffy voice,

"Mr. Graham, your last month's rent is overdue for 4 days. I'm only informing you this late because of the respect I have for you as you're a doctor. Please don't lose it and pay the rent by today evening" saying that he left without waiting for a reply...

"Haa... Fuck..." Graham cursed again.

Sorry guys... Previous chapter sizes were all over the place, because their topics had to be concluded in the same chapter for my satisfaction. 😌

Don't worry ! 🫂

Future chapters will be more streamlined, I think...😅🫠
