Aadhya's POV
I immediately went and sat beside DJ. He was dozing off, head slightly tilted, completely unbothered by the chaos around.
I nudged him lightly. He stirred, eyes half-open, still sleepy. "Hmm… Adi?" he mumbled.
"Let's eat later… after school," I said. I needed to talk to him—but not here. Not in front of everyone. Especially not these idiots. If anyone found out about Devit, it would turn into a disaster.
He looked at me for a second, processing, and then suddenly said a little louder than needed, "Are you asking me out on a date?"
What—WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT OUT LOUD?!
Before I could even react, Avi appeared out of nowhere like a summoned demon.
"I'm in," he declared confidently. I instantly shook my head. No. Absolutely not. He cannot come. If he finds out about Devit, he'll blurt it out in two seconds flat—probably in front of Vivaan.
"Nooooo… pleaseee take meee with you," he begged, switching to that annoying puppy face. I glanced at DJ for help, but of course, this guy looked completely normal—like nothing weird just happened. Useless.
"A-Avi, you can't come with us," I tried to reason. He immediately gasped like I had betrayed him. "Why? Only DJ on date? Take me toooooo!" he whined dramatically.
God. Why is my life like this?
I turned to DJ, defeated.
"Is it okay if Avi comes with us?" I asked. He looked at Avi, then at me, and after a pause, simply nodded.
"I know a place," he said casually and went right back to dozing off.
Great. That's settled then.
I looked at Avi. He literally jumped in excitement like a five-year-old who just got free candy. Insane.
I stood up, casually reaching for my phone, but something felt… off. Too quiet. I slowly looked around—and froze. The entire class was staring at us. Like we had just announced something huge.
And then my eyes landed on Vivaan and Nikansh.
Their expressions… were not normal.
They looked furious.
School was finally over, and the three of us headed straight to DJ's car. I took the passenger seat, DJ got in the driver's seat, and Avi jumped into the back, already restless. DJ glanced at the rearview mirror and smirked—God knows why, maybe he still thinks he's the most handsome guy alive. He started driving.
"Hey, where are we going?" I asked, while Avi kept bouncing like a ping pong ball.
"Amusement park. Got free tickets," DJ said casually. Avi almost hit the roof in excitement. "Avi, sit properly!" I snapped, and surprisingly, he listened.
The silence felt boring, so I quickly played a song—
"Zindagi kuch toh bata…" filled the car, soft at first, then louder.
🎶Ek din mohabbat odh ker..
ek din gali ke mod per ...teri hatheli
Par likhun mera naam tere naam per ...
Phir tu takkluf chod kar ..phir tu jhuka kar ke Nazar rakhna mere kandhe pe sar .. Zindagi...
Kuch toh bata ...aa.. zindagi apna pata zindagi....🎶
Perfect driving vibe. Soon all three of us were singing along loudly, completely off-tune but not caring at all.
Avi started vibing harder, waving his hands like he was at a concert, then suddenly took out his phone. "Give it, I'll record, you just sit and enjoy ," I said, grabbing it and filming us—DJ driving with a small smile, Avi going crazy in the back, and me singing like I owned the moment.
"Zindagi kuch toh bata… zindagi…" we sang along , laughing in between, forgetting everything—no fights, no tension, just this one carefree ride.
We reached the destination and got down at the counter before heading inside. Avi was still bouncing like he had unlimited energy even after school. He ran ahead, then suddenly turned back, grabbed my hand, and started pulling me.
"Hey wait, I'll fall!" I shouted while being dragged. Behind us, DJ just chuckled and walked slowly like some old man. Seriously.
We stopped at a ride—pirate ship, I think. It was huge. I had never tried it before. We got in line and soon took our seats. The moment it started swinging higher, my heart dropped. What is this gravity doing to me? I screamed the entire time. For them it was probably ten minutes—for me it felt like ten months. When it finally stopped, I was done. Completely exhausted. DJ, on the other hand, was just looking somewhere and grinning like a fool, and Avi was still full of energy. Am I the only normal human here?
Avi dragged me to more rides. One after another. Six rides. SIX. By the end, my soul left my body. I literally sat down in the middle of the path, breathing heavily.
"Adi get up," Avi said. "Wait, let me breathe!" I snapped.
"You're so weak," he teased. I instantly stood up and smacked him. "Idiot, we did six rides back to back! I'm tired. I'm not going anywhere. You go." He pouted and looked at DJ.
"I'll stay with her, you go," DJ said calmly, and Avi ran off happily.
I sat on a nearby seat while DJ handed me a water bottle. I took a sip and gave it back. Okay, time to talk.
"Hey DJ, I need to ask you something," I said. He nodded. "What would you do if you got your girlfriend pregnant?" I asked. He thought for a second and then said simply, "I'll take responsibility and marry her… if she wants." I smiled instantly. Good. He's sensible. He is perfect person to talk to.
"Why do you ask?" he questioned. I hesitated. Should I tell him it's about Devit? "…that… Devit…" I started. He finished it calmly, "Devit doesn't want to take responsibility for Gracy." I froze. He already knew.
"You know about them?" I asked. He nodded. " I heard them fighting,"
"Then what did you do?" I asked. "If Devit needs help, he'll ask. I won't interfere," he said. That made sense… but still. These jerks are stupids but not cowards. Hmm
"I know he'll handle it, but… I feel bad for Gracy. In such situations, it's not the same for girls, she is hurt by what he is doing," I said.
He just looked at me, then chuckled.
"You sound wise," he said. I blinked.
Me? Wise? Wow nice joke.
"I'll talk to him. But if he doesn't listen, I won't force it," he added. I nodded.
"Talk to him tomorrow," I said.
"Why not now?" he asked. "Huh? We're here right now?" I asked, confused.
"Let's call them here," he said, suddenly leaning toward me. I almost fell back trying to avoid him.
Suddenly, a few coke cans flew from behind me and hit his head. He straightened immediately. I turned back, trying to see who threw them.
"They're here," he said calmly. "Who?" I asked. "Section E."
Of course.
"Where are they? Let's go," I said. "I'm too tired to play hide and seek," he replied, smirking slightly while looking somewhere ahead. What is he even thinking?
He is acting abnormal again like Vivaan.
Just then Avi came running back and hugged me.
"I enjoyed it!" he said happily. "Good, good," I said, patting his back.
"Okay now leave." DJ stood up. "Let's eat something. I'll pay." Free food? Me and Avi instantly got up. No questions asked. And now here we are—sitting in a café called "Pizzaria." Nice.
We sat down after ordering—different pizzas for all of us, planning to share. Since DJ was paying, me and Avi didn't hold back at all. We were grinning like criminals while DJ just scratched his head watching the bill grow. We started eating, talking, teasing like usual. DJ was saying something serious, but me and Avi weren't even listening—we were staring at his face. There was ketchup smeared near his lips and cheek. We tried so hard not to laugh, just nodding randomly at whatever he was saying. He got irritated. Finally, I handed him a tissue and pointed. He cleaned it, still suspicious, while we burst out laughing.
Then suddenly there was noise nearby. A couple was celebrating their 25th anniversary. Everyone around them started clapping, and music began playing in the café. People started dancing. The vibe changed instantly. Avi and DJ started singing along loudly like they were at a concert, while I just watched, smiling. It felt… nice.
And then out of nowhere, two girls pulled me into the center. I froze for a second. Everyone was looking at me. Waiting. Even Avi and DJ looked shocked. The song started—and somehow, my feet just moved because I already knew it by heart.
🎶 Meri na sune ye dil mera, tere piche pagal hai… roke na ruke ye dil mera, jaane kaisi hulchul hai… 🎶
I followed the rhythm, trying to match the vibe, copying those cute expressions like in the music video. And it worked. People started smiling, cheering.
🎶..ke mere saanson mein tu ..ahsasson me tu...har hasi mere base tuu..🎶
The old couple looked at me so warmly. Avi and DJ had already taken out their phones, recording like idiots. I kept dancing, and slowly others joined in too. The whole place felt alive.
And for the first time in a long while… so did I.
I couldn't stop smiling.
Avi's POV
The moment DJ said, "Let's eat something. I'll pay," something inside me activated.
Not emotions.
Instinct.
I was on my feet before he could even blink.
Free food? From DJ? Voluntarily?
Suspicious. But acceptable.
I glanced at Aadhya—she was already standing too. No hesitation. No fake politeness. Just pure understanding.
That's my person.
We didn't even speak. Just one look that said: don't hold back.
Meanwhile, DJ looked like he had just made a decision he was going to regret for the rest of his life.
And honestly?
Correct.
Five minutes later, we were sitting in Pizzaria. Fancy lights, cozy vibe, slightly expensive-looking—which only motivated me more.
"We'll share," I said confidently, opening the menu.
Aadhya nodded like I had just delivered a TED Talk.
Sharing, in our dictionary, means: we eat everything, DJ pays for everything, and no one asks anything.
I leaned toward her and whispered, "Order extra. He still looks financially stable."
She glanced at DJ, then back at the menu. "Noted."
That's growth.
We ordered like we had a personal grudge against his wallet. Pizzas, sides, drinks—if it sounded good, it was coming to the table.
DJ didn't even argue. He just sat there, watching us like a man calculating how much regret costs.
The food came, and we got to work immediately.
No pause. No shame.
DJ started talking about something serious—I think—but I wasn't listening.
Because I saw it.
Ketchup.
Right there.
Near his lips.
I froze mid-bite.
Slowly, I looked at Aadhya.
She looked at me.
And just like that, we were mentally gone.
This is why she's basically my elder sister. Not because she's mature—but because we share the same level of nonsense.
We both looked back at DJ.
Still there.
Still ketchup.
DJ kept talking like everything was normal, and we nodded like we were in a business meeting.
"Hmm."
"Yeah."
"Valid point."
Absolutely no idea what he was saying.
"What?" he finally frowned. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Nothing," I said immediately.
"Nothing," Aadhya repeated.
We both looked away.
Two seconds later—we looked back.
Still there.
I was fighting for my life.
Finally, Aadhya handed him a tissue and pointed.
He wiped his face, confused.
Looked at the tissue.
Then at us.
And we exploded.
I bent forward, laughing so hard I nearly dropped my pizza. "BRO—"
DJ just stared at us like he was reconsidering every friendship decision he had ever made.
"I'm paying for this," he said flatly.
"Yes," I nodded. "Financial loss builds character."
He glared.
Then suddenly, the café got loud.
Clapping. Cheering.
We turned and saw a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary. Cake, smiles, people clapping like it was a whole event.
And just like that, the entire place changed.
Music started playing.
People started dancing.
Strangers became best friends in five seconds.
I looked at DJ.
He looked at me.
And obviously—
We started singing.
Loudly.
Wrong lyrics. No pitch. Full confidence.
I pointed at him like we were performing live. He joined in like this was his life purpose.
Meanwhile, Aadhya was just sitting there, smiling like a normal person.
Disappointing.
And then—
Two girls came out of nowhere and dragged her into the center.
I blinked.
"…oh."
DJ blinked.
"…OH."
We both leaned forward like we just bought front-row tickets.
She froze for a second, standing there while everyone looked at her.
And I thought—
Yeah, she's running.
She hates attention. She's about to disappear.
But then the music started.
And she didn't step back.
She stepped in.
I blinked again.
"…wait."
She started dancing.
Proper dancing.
Steps. Expressions. Timing.
Everything.
My jaw dropped.
"DJ," I whispered, grabbing his arm, "since when does she do this??"
DJ squinted. "I thought her only talent was arguing."
"Same," I said. "This is new DLC."
"Why am I discovering this after paying for food?"he muttered.
I snorted. "Focus. Record."
He immediately pulled out his phone. "Evidence."
"Blackmail," I corrected.
We stood there recording like proud idiots while she kept dancing, completely in her own world.
People started smiling, clapping, joining in.
And her—
She was actually enjoying it.
Smiling properly.
Not her usual sarcastic "I'll roast you in two seconds" smile.
A real one.
Soft. Happy.
I leaned back a little, still recording, a grin spreading across my face.
I leaned closer to DJ, still staring at her.
"…this is not the same girl who goes around threatening people, right?"
DJ didn't even blink. "No. That one is our Aadhya. This is… upgraded version."
"Who installed the update?" I whispered.
"Not us," he said. "We're still using the lagging version."
She spun perfectly.
I gasped. "BRO she has coordination??"
DJ zoomed in aggressively. "Illegal. Absolutely illegal."
"She hid this from us," I said, offended. "All these days… betrayal."
"Fake personality," he nodded seriously. "We've been scammed."
I pointed at the screen. "Look at her expressions!"
DJ leaned closer. "Why is she smiling like a normal human being??"
"Exactly!" I whispered. "Where is the attitude? Where is the violence?"
"She looks… nice," he said, disturbed.
I made a face. "I don't like this. Bring back the insults."
She hit a beat perfectly.
We both went silent.
"…okay that was clean," I admitted.
"Very clean," DJ agreed. "I hate it."
"I'm proud," I said.
"I'm concerned," he replied.
"She's glowing," I added.
"She's dangerous," he corrected.
I looked at him. "Imagine she uses this power in school."
He froze.
"…no."
"She'll distract the entire class."
"We'll fail exams."
"Teachers will pass her for talent."
We both stared at her dancing.
"…we need to humble her," DJ said finally.
"Yes," I nodded. "Immediately."
Pause.
"…after recording."
"Obviously."
"Did you saw them, others" I asked him." Yeah ...they are here look at that glass" he said pointing to a glass window. I slowly looked there. Hmm Nice nice.
I smirked, still watching her.
Because jokes aside—
She looked happy.
And yeah…
I was still saving that video.
Forever.
