Chapter 12 - Chapter -11 Darkness that intrupted

The moment shattered.

Not slowly.

Not gently.

Violently.

The air shifted first.

Heavy.

Wrong.

Kael stilled instantly.

Every instinct inside him snapping back into place at once.

His grip on Aarya tightened—

Not possessive this time.

Protective.

Dangerous.Aarya felt it immediately.

The shift in him.

The way his body tensed—

Like something worse than him had just entered the room.

"What—"

She didn't get to finish.

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then everything went still.

Too still.

Kael's eyes darkened instantly.

Not with desire this time. With recognition.

"Stay behind me," he said quietly.

The tone wasn't negotiable.

Aarya's heartbeat spiked.

Not from him—

From the way the entire space suddenly felt… watched.

She stepped back instinctively.

Just enough.

But her hand didn't leave him.

It tightened instead.

A low sound echoed through the corridor.

Not footsteps.

Not movement.Something else.

Something wrong.

"You shouldn't have touched her."

The voice came from everywhere at once.

Soft.

Almost amused.

But underneath it—

Something ancient.

Something dangerous.

Kael didn't move.

Didn't react.

But the tension in his body said everything.

"You shouldn't be here," he replied coldly.A faint laugh followed.

"And yet… I am."

The shadows in the corridor shifted.

Not with light.

With presence.

Aarya's breath caught sharply.

Because something was forming—

Right in front of them.

Not fully visible.

Not fully real.

But there.

Watching. You found her faster than I expected," the voice continued.

Kael's expression didn't change.

But his hand tightened slightly—

Still holding Aarya behind him.

"Leave," he said again.

This time—

There was something darker in his voice.

Something closer to a threat.

The figure shifted again.

A faint outline forming—

Enough to show eyes.

Not human.

Not anything she had ever seen before

You're already losing control," it said softly.

"That's new."

Silence.

Heavy.

Aarya's grip tightened unconsciously.

Because whatever this was—

It wasn't afraid of him.

And that was worse than anything else.

"You don't understand what she is," the voice continued.

This time—

It sounded closer.

Too close.Aarya's breath hitched.

"Then explain it," she said suddenly.

Kael's hand tightened instantly.

"Don't."

Too late.

The figure shifted—

And this time—

It looked directly at her.

"You feel it, don't you?" it whispered.

"The way he reacts to you."

"The way your blood changes him."

Aarya's heart stopped for a second.

Kael moved instantly—Faster than before.

His hand shot out—

Grabbing at the shadow itself.

And this time—

It reacted.

The entire corridor shook slightly—

Like something had been forced back.

The figure flickered.

Distorted.

Then—

It disappeared.

Silence fell again.

But it wasn't the same silence. It felt heavier now.

Like something had been left behind.

Aarya looked up slowly.

"What was that?"

Kael didn't answer immediately.

His breathing was uneven again.

But not from before.

From something else.

Something closer to—

anger.

And something darker.

"Trouble," he said finally.

His eyes shifted back to her.

And for the first time—

There was something in them she hadn't seen before.

Not just obsession.

Not just control.

Something else.

Something that looked dangerously close to… fear.
