She shouldn't have stepped closer.
But she did.
And this time-
It wasn't instinct.

Aarya closed the distance slowly.
Not rushed.

Kael's jaw tightened.
His hand lifted slightly-
As if to stop her.
But it didn't.
That hesitation-That single moment-
Told her everything she needed to know.
He wasn't in control anymore.
Not fully.
Aarya's fingers lifted slowly.
Careful.
Intentional.
She touched him first this time.
Lightly.
Just at the edge of his sleeve.
Kael froze.
Completely.
His reaction was instant.Not visible to anyone else-
But she felt it.

The tension tightening again.

"You react every time I touch you," she whispered.
His gaze darkened instantly.

"Aarya," he said-low, controlled,
"stop."
But his voice didn't sound like a command anymore.
It sounded strained.
Like he wasn't sure he wanted her to.
That was all she needed.
Her fingers moved again-
Sliding slightly higher.
Not bold.
But not accidental either.
Kael's hand closed around her wrist instantly.
Firm.
Not harsh.
But definite.
You don't understand what you're doing," he said again.
This time-
His voice wasn't steady.
Aarya looked at him.
Really looked at him.
And for the first time-
She saw it clearly.
Not just control.
Not just restraint.
Struggle.
"No," she said softly.
"I think I do.
His grip tightened slightly.
Not stopping her.
Holding her there.
And yet-
Not letting go either.
That contradiction-
That pull-
It wrapped around both of them now.
Aarya leaned closer again.
This time-
Without hesitation.
"You said I undo you," she repeated quietly.
Her voice dropped further-softer.

"Then what happens..."
She paused.
Just enough for the tension to stretch.
"...if I don't want you to stay in control?"
Silence.
Absolute silence.

Kael didn't answer.
He stepped closer instead.Closing whatever distance was left.

low.
