Gideon buttoned his shirt and folded his sleeves, turning around when the scent of vanilla and fresh rain filled the room just before a soft knock sounded on the door.
"Come in," he called out.
The door swung open, and Adeline stepped inside with a gentle smile on her lips.
"Good morning, Your Highness," she greeted, offering a polite bow.
She had braided one side of her hair, pinning it neatly at the back of her head, while the rest cascaded loosely down her back in soft waves. Gideon's hands paused on his cuffs as his gaze fixed on her, the fierce tension that usually held his shoulders tight completely melting away.
"I received the flowers. Thank you," she said, her smile widening.
"If you come into my room looking like this, how am I supposed to keep my sanity?" His golden eyes shimmered with a dangerous warmth that left her momentarily breathless as he closed the distance between them.
