Chapter 81 - Who suffered the most

Janessa screamed from behind the prison gates where the sentinels had just locked her in.

"Lower your voice. Don't force us to lock you in the dungeon below," the officer warned her sharply.

"But why am I being locked up?" Janessa questioned, reaching out to grab the bars. She pulled her hands away instantly with a gasp, finding they were forged from pure silver. She stared down at her palms, which were already blistering and throbbing with pain.

"It was made clear to you that you tried maligning the image of Miss Adeline through your lies. Until further orders, you are to remain locked here," the officer clarified coldly.

"What?" Janessa frowned, her heart sinking. Before she could tell the sentinel that it must all be a misunderstanding, he turned on his heel and walked away. Defeated, she retreated to the back of the cell and slid down to sit on the cool stone floor.
