Chapter 43 - Universal Being

Leo Primé's point of view

I turn a corner starting my walk to school. I've lived in this neighborhood since I was a kid and know the turns by heart. It's been years since anyone has built or renovated anything here. The government just decides to look another way and pretend they don't see this place. In a way it's cool since we get to live here for cheap.

My family had issues a couple of months ago and I thought my world was gonna end, but one day as though it was magic everything got better. My mom and dad fixed things, they got better jobs and now there's a chance I get to go to college. All my effort for straight As has a meaning. I haven't been happier in my life. It's as though I'm able to relax finally.

I looked at myself on my phone. My middle cut, short brown hair was a little off, so I fixed it. I smiled at the handsome man on my phone. Giving his blue eyes a wink.

I reach the end of the deserted road and come upon the old rail that protects people from falling to the beach about a hundred feet below. I step onto the tiny platform and look out to the ocean.

"I can't believe how good this view looks every morning"

I gawked at the sea. I come here everyday since my life started getting better. It's a reminder that life gets better and you have to hold through it.

In the sky a giant crack started to form. It was small at first. It confused me. It terrified me. Then it ripped into giant radiating cracks. Bright red lights and beams of darkness started to shine down onto the world, and I saw a flash of a black void within the crack. It wasn't black, was it? It stretched infinitely yet looked like a wall. Or a handful of everything.

"The hell is that!"

I tried getting a better look by holding onto the railing. I heard a loud snap as the whole rail fell off. I start to plummet towards the beach, seeing the grains of sand grow clearer and clearer. My neck probably snapped then, but only after my head exploded. Everything was black.

At that moment my eyes started to adjust to the dark. I came to the realization that I was still in my room. What! That.. that was just a dream? No way that was such a realistic feeling. I mean except for the sky. I cheer slightly realizing I'm safe.

I sat up in bed and looked at my blinds. "I don't think I closed those last night. I wouldn't have had time if I got home super late and passed out." Then I turn to my right. "Did my parents rearrange my room?" I turned towards the door in the center of the room.

The moment I turned, the door opened and a small black figure walked into the doorway. Their hand was still on the door as it swung all the way back and slammed against the wall.

This is when I came to the future. Is my life flashing before my eyes? Or am I remembering the feeling when I first died without magic to bring me back?

Neither. It rang in my head, the call of it. No. It rang because I called it. I reached for it. I couldn't see, but the world fell still, obeying something undeniable for the first time. Universal being was afraid to stay shut instead. This entire time, I don't know how I didn't feel it before but it wasn't unexplainable fear, it was the feeling of death.

A reliable narrators' point of view

I trotted up the mountain all so happy with my work. Our work. Yeah I know. We all three worked really hard, so we should be sharing the credit. Ok, fine, we did really well.

Didn't think the forest would burn but alright. I stepped out happily, only to be met with a horrific sight. Oh no! Down on the ground is Baydí. How? We looked around but only dead bodies laid around her squashed head. No, one is raising her hand.

How… Terrifying. We fell on our butt looking scared. Why! Why are we scared! Two half diamond shapes with three piercing points surrounded the water. It was devastating. My months work had accumulated with a random- No, she's not random! The damn Heo! She had forced the water down somehow, destroying it. Condensing it down farther and farther.

That's not possible! I was supposed to climb ranks with this act! Shes, shes, SHES CRUSHING AN OCEAN OF WATER DOWN EFFORTLESSLY!

Heo's point of view

I saw the last of it. A strange star shape crushing the ocean. I was doing it. I was saving everyone. I had caught the bullet. The water fell softly next to me in a small marble sized ball. I couldn't move, but I wouldn't need to. My head burned and my eyes shook like a caffeine rush turning into a heart attack. We had prevented the death of the city.

"How annoying!" but she was dead, no?

Lynix waltzed up to me and stared down. She kicked me in the head, worsening my headache. Radiating pain shot down my body from my spine. I screamed a defeated cry. Blood pooled out of my nose.

"How dare you! YEAH how dare she! I was about to say the same thing."

Lynix spoke nonsense. She had on a light pink turtle neck that folded into tight black gloves at her forearms. A weird golden necklace with a goat eye and a light blue string hung on her neck. A purple bow hung near the bottom of her chest where her clothes again stitched into a tight black under shirt. Under her stomach was a dress matching her turtleneck color. Pink cloth was stitched to her hips, forming another dress over the first. She wore tight black leggings. Her purple and blue hair waved in the wind. Slightly different unsaturated blue eyes looked down at me. A bright blue and pink antenna sung off her forehead. Along with the two ringed tattoos with a line going through it on her cheek, stars were nicely painted below her eye, going on top of her shut eyelids. Lastly, a ribbon with planets coiled off the back of her like a tail.

"I'm going to kill you for that! Well, we were already planning to. Don't tell her!"

Lynix spawned her scythe. She raised it above her head, and sliced down, nearly missing me. It hit the dirt and she stared for a second at me. Insane eyes, for a second, relaxed into those like my mom.

"Your cousin…" Her voice softened and she glanced over at Stella. "That wasn't part of my plan. That we apologize for. Fourth ranked is the one who specia- lizes in hero syndrome cases. We had no intention of inhumanly taking the soul from someone. For you, I won't finish her. That is all I can do though." Her soft face crumbled into dirt around me. "Anyways, let's kill you!"

"Let me take over." Another voice spoke.

"What?" I said aloud.

"What do you mean what?" Lynix asked.

"Trust me, we'll both die if you don't."

"Sure, go right ahead." I said because I'm dead either way.

"We were already going to kill you idiot!"

Her scythe came down, but a dark purple sword with gagged edges spawned and caught the blade. Then a hand reached for it. It was coming from me, but didn't look like mine. The hand was scarred, not burned or deformed. I saw white hair scatter around my eye then lift up. I turned my head slightly to see a woman, who looked exactly like me but older with white long hair. She ripped herself violently away from my body.

What was even more strange was the similar two sets of horns she shared with Baydí. The two on the forehead, and two behind the ear. They were normal smooth, not jagged like Baydí's just were. Along with those horns, a light yellow horn carved from the top of her head and back. A similar shape of dark purple horn followed on the other side. Her eyes matched the colors. Her left two eyes on the side of the dark horn, had dark eyelashes and dark purple eyes. On the right, where the light yellow horn was, two light yellow eyelashes and a light yellow eye sat.

Seeing both colors I only then realized, those are both the colors of negative and positive karma.

Her chest was wrapped tightly with black bandaging. She had a similar scar to mine from her left shoulder to her right hip, but also a smaller one in the center of her chest, and a smaller cut from her right shoulder down to her belly button. She was ripped. Her abs were only slightly hidden from a shadowy black over coat that flickered like flames. She had on black sweatpants also that finally ripped their way from my body.

"Oh can't forget." She reached up to her hair and two golden long clips attached to her bangs. "Much better."

"Who- How are you!"

"Pff- you carry around that factor of destruction and think of yourself as strong don't you. Lynix Azulé?"

"What did you just say to us?"

"Wow, as freaky as the day I killed you."

"You did no such thing."

"Who do you think I am?" The white hair woman raised her eyebrow and tilted on her hip.

"You? Some weird ability of Heo's?"

"Wow, actually close, but that wasn't the answer I was looking for."

Her voice darkened and she raised her hands. One hand raised the dark purple sword, the other a light yellow shining blade.

"I AM THE LORD ABOVE ALL! DESTROYER!"
