These guys are more annoying then I'd like to admit. Living up to the name of Goblins. Seriously, how do you guys end up being the living embodiment of goblin nature. We saw a dirt doorway with two goblin guards outside watching it. They were way larger than the ones before, about four foot ten. I would have tried to be stealthy about it but the bright light on my head didn't help.
They went to scream but Stella had shot two flaming javelins at them. They'd much rather dodge than alert their buddies. Doing the same thing as last time I forced my surroundings down into the ground. Initially it stunned them and I got a hit off the left one. My dagger burned hot as I cut the air. Though this time it left a deeper wound of pouring magic instead of a scratch.
The right one slashed its dagger at my back. Sparks of flames deflected it. The flaming shield erupted with spears and pinned the goblin in place. Magic poured out onto the ground below us.
The left one followed up on my attack. Its speed is great but nowhere near the other two goblins. I simply stepped back into the flaming shield. Only my tanktop catching on fire. I took the same stance as the fast goblin before and pushed myself forward. I pulled my arm from behind my back forward. I pushed pure magic out of my legs trying to mimic whatever trick they did. It barely propelled me but still gave me a slight amount of speed on the slowly defending goblin.
My dagger was already shattered but a small amount hung on the hilt. It was enough to erupt the goblin into magic. The other goblin was also crumbling into magic.
"Heo! Your shirt!"
"Yeah I can tell."
The back haft was incinerated and a lifeending scar raced down my entire back. From my left shoulder to my right hip. Stella's face grew pale at the sight, a tear or two forming.
"Stella, you're alright let's stay focused. The other goblins definitely heard us. Hopefully they'll funnel themselves through this doorway for us." Stella's face barely recovered.
I stood on the left side of the door and wrapped what was left of the shirt around my chest. I pushed my flaming horns as far as I could from my head into the middle of the doorway. We heard the scratching of claws running our way. Stella held six spears over the door. I held the guard's daggers in my hands. The first goblin ran through the doorway oblivious. I slashed towards it. A gust of magic filled the room with a soft glow betraying the brutal scene about to ensue.
Three clueless goblins squeezed each other through the doorway. My second blade from the guards shatter against the first one and cut the second. One of Stella's spears lodged itself between the other two. I picked up their weapons when more were on us. The goblins, though we were cleaning them out, kept running through the doorway for us to easily attack. My attacks slowed down half way through their siege but the stamina boost had pushed me farther. For the last two I was out of breath and had to let Stella deal with them.
For whatever reason this dungeon liked having a lot of goblins. We had cleared maybe a total of fifty or so on the top floor including the forest. Now this floor has around thirty. Thirty two if we count the two fast ones.
The cloud of magic illuminated the dirt cave. I dropped my horns back out of flames and they grew raggedly from my forehead and fell down like goat horns to my ears.
"Ugh." I coughed and went down to one knee before just buckling.
"At least we weren't in too much danger from those guys." Stella said with slight bags on her eyes, and a little amount of a potion left on her lips.
"Lets take a break before going deeper."
"Sure." Stella gleefully turned around and grabbed the cake. She stopped when she turned around. "Heo."
"Yeah?"
"We didn't bring any food but the cake. Not even water."
"Oh crap. We leave now. That's a failed quest."
"Lets check our status and continue down. Let's try and wrap this up before midnight." I looked at Stella who was nowhere near my tiredness. She stared back at me then spun a little on one foot before tucking it behind her other. "Argg?"
The most magic points we had ever gained from anything was goblins before but these were stronger though easy to beat. I had gained a hundred and twelve magic points. It felt strange having over a hundred magic points, almost uncomfortable. It might have hurt if I didn't allocate the others before.
I instantly increased my stamina with thirty seven magic points. Then increased my strength to a total of eighty magic points and magic strength to total sixty four. Lastly, I increased my speed total of forty. I had also gained a speed boost skill.
After finishing, the uneasy feeling of all that magic held without purpose in my body dissipated when it was applied to a part of me. Scary, If I lived during the awakening I might have imploded by now.
"Stella, that was the most we'd ever gotten."
"Thats definitely thanks to that charm." I looked down at my pants where it now hung after the first dagger shattered. "Can't be another floor right, just the keeper?"
"It's low level so maybe it doesn't have a lot of floors."
"Heo, I'm surprised."
"Why?"
"You barely reacted to the title."
"A TITLE!"
She staggered back at the scream. She shook her head trying to un-stun herself. I looked at my status and for sure there was one. Goblin?
"You're very cheeky and cunning almost like those you've slain. You're better at fighting them with an almost rage behind how you perform. They are kinda vile. I'll give you that. That's kinda good.. I guess it's something."
"Can't really complain about it while we are here. It's also kinda nice our president is still with us even in another country. Like a guardian watching over our little adventure." We took the loot and started walking through the dungeon.
"Yeah, it would be nice to meet Yeal. Created the status for everyone in the world yet doesn't exclude anyone from it. Though one time I did see her..."
"I mean she's always been in charge. I bet I was with you there."
"Yeah. I don't know why she would but I waved at her during a speech and I'm pretty sure she scowled at me."
"Why would she? She's too kind even if she's waging a war right now."
"Maybe a bug landed on her or something but she had to keep speaking?"
"Who knows."
"Immaging she hates dragons because shes never became a full dragon in two thousands years?" Stella took a spit take on her unhydrated mouth.
"That would be so dumb. Honestly gotta tell that more. I'm sure King would think that's funny."
"Yeah, the only important figure I know is Rex and we all know how he is."
"I think he's just tired of getting teleportation calls from you. Speaking of Rex, anything different from the church relic?"
"No. Actually I forgot it went into my skin."
"I wonder what it was meant for." Stella took a long pause thinking. The empty dungeon around us prompted her. "You think the gods were evil?"
"Thats a heavy topic?"
"I'm just wondering? Everything they touched and made was evil in nature, no?"
"Yeah, but there's a couple of reasons you can think of to explain it like since they don't have control over it they were tainted. Or maybe since it's on 'this plane of existence?' it turned evil in nature? Or maybe just my body turned it evil which Rex might just kill me for."
"Meh. Black holes are so sacred and pure. They absorb all but us, protecting us from the world far out."
The cave was quiet after our conversation besides the echoing of our footsteps. Then the floor started to change to stone, along with the walls.
"Must be getting close since it's starting to look like a real dungeon." Stopping I quieted my voice "One more push I guess" I pointed at a group of goblins in a lit area of the dungeon.
"We have enough potions I could just shoot spells down their way."
"Sure, I'll make sure you get all these potions down." I smirked.
"You're lucky you're a woman, Heo. I'd smack you for that one." Definitely a woman physically.
These goblins were bigger, about our height but there were a handful of smaller ones.
"Maybe this is where the faster ones came from?"
"Could be. Who should I target?"
"Try and hit them all, then target the bigger ones. If the small guys are fast I'll deal with them."
"Okay."
"Go!" She launched a flaming wall of fire at the goblins. It pushed them back definitely but Stella wasn't skilled enough to do a lot of damage that way. That's a shame.
She switched to javelins and hit some of the bigger guys. Like we feared the smaller ones were fast. They already headed towards us at wrathful rates. I pulled a longsword out of gravity and flames. It's weightless form helping me. I sidestepped and swung for where the fast goblin was landing after missing me.
The blade hit it and cut it in half. It was already in a gust of magic before it hit the ground. The next one slowed itself then flipped its blade backwards in its hand before running circles around me. Damn.
It launched an attack at me and I couldn't react. Stella was preoccupied keeping the bigger guys at a distance. So it left a cut along my stomach.
"Did you just try to disembowel me? Oh hell no!"
I stabbed my sword into the ground and released the gravity surrounding it. A violent tidal wave washed over my surroundings. It might have hit another or two fast goblins along with the one who hit me. I quickly patted down a bit of flame that hung on my clothes before returning to the fight.
I ran over to Stella whose staff was drawn on the goblins. I grabbed a potion and allowed both of us to down it.
"I'll be back." I ran alongside her javelins. I slid to the side of a swinging goblin and picked up a large blade. Its weight felt foreign as I brought it up towards the closet one. I was able to dodge all of their attacks. Some attacks just cut my flowing clothes. I attacked with the strength boost activated, when I did this time I saw a little thin glowing ruin on my arms. I lit the blade aflame allowing me to cut cleanly through one of them.
The blade held when I infused it so I swung at the other. My dagger blew a gust of magic around us. Though this time when I hit them their bodies didn't crumble. Instead a small amount of blue blood sprayed. Still the majority of what came out from the slash was magic.
I quickly ran to the ten who were still moving. The rest of the goblins were pinned to the floor with flaming javelins. So we had taken down around thirty. Meaning Stella was picking off these guys easily. I down a potion and use my stamina boost to its limits.
I let go of the fire on the dagger while focusing on the enhancement and the blade exploded in shards. Damn, they really aren't good at all. I dodged and waited for an opening with all of them around me. With them focused on me Stella was hurling javelins at them.
One swung down at me and its dagger broke against the floor. I launched what remained of my dagger at the goblin next to him, surprising it while I pulled out the last dagger I had on me. It hit its skull and left a two inch cut in it before shattering. The horde was all attacking my back.
Stella launched a spear and a shield right at my back. I took the spear and thrusted it through the fire at the blinded goblins. Stella was drinking three potions when she lifted up her hand and gave me a thumbs up.
I dropped my strength enhancement and instead surrounded the spear with gravity magic. Then I infested the flames with my own. I stepped back enough right as the shield went down and threw the fragile spear at the horde. The gravity magic was weak in comparison to the hell that laid below it. A flash of blinding light erupted the dungeon and a strong gust of wind blew out the torches lighting it.
The air smelled like burnt grass and ash as the horde was obliterated.
"Could have done that from the start."
"Could have blown up in my hands and killed us both."
"That's insane you're still able to have an enhancement on after that."
"What?" a headache immediately hit me.
"Oh so you were just blind to it." A shard of ice flung and hit Stella in her heart throwing her on her back.
"STELLA!" I ran over to her dodging glints of light shooting through the darkness."
I got to her, small wisps lighting up her body. A baseball sized hole was in her clothes. She stood up and whipped her staff up at the direction of the attackers. She formed a glowing white blade of pure magic. It cut the air like a jet wing. She launched it towards the attacker. A small group of now screaming goblins all wore dirty clothes that stretched under them looking like robes. The blade ran and hit them, taking their heads off.
"Could have done that from the start."
"Shut it."
