Chapter 8 - My life Is Exhausting, And I Have No One To Blame!

When I was going to sleep today, Kanzaki messaged me.

"What is your plan for the midterms?"

"Study sessions. Separately for the weak and strong students. I will handle the content, worksheets, and weekend lectures." I replied...

"And who will tell the class about this?"

"Ichinose-san."

"And how will we talk about this?"

"I can make a group."

"You got her contact info."

"Isn't that literally known by everyone?"

"I mean, you were not there when she collected everyone's contact details to form the class group. I was the one who gave her your number, you know?"

"I knew it. You could have called her out for our plan, but didn't!"

"Hehe! Took you so long..."

Arghh! He is so annoying!

"So, when Ichinose collected points from everyone, you were the one who told her I am broke?"

"No, it was pretty much known by everyone."

"Huh?! How?"

"Well, when you told me how many private points you had, it seems some nearby people heard it."

"Oh, makes sense. I take it, you told her to wait for my compensation of 50k pp in the future..."

"Nicely done! You sure are intelligent."

"And what would have happened if I did not know?"

"Simple. Everyone would hate you..."

"Is this why they did not want Ichinose-san to talk to me?"

"Yeah. They did not want you to convince her to let it go... And that is exactly why you were being glared at by the whole class."

So, it wasn't girls protecting Ichinose; it was them showing disdain for me. I guess the boys were pretty much indifferent to it. Or, they might have been happy that I, someone who dared to talk to Ichinose, was scamming the class of 50k points. More like they would have a card they could use against me in public...

"If you hide things from me again, I am blocking you!"

"Ok! I get it."

"So, when did this happen?"

"On the evening of the second day of school. You ran out for something, maybe scouting. And so when Ichinose asked for contact details, everyone thought they could just tell you later. And when it came to private points, I told them that I would ask him to pay it back in the future."

"And they believed you because we look like complete friends..."

"What do you mean? I am your friend."

"A friend who continuously tries to set me up."

"I did help you with the council president."

"Yeah, you did."

"So, care to explain your study session plan?"

"Yeah, sure."

I explained my plan to him. On weekdays, the study sessions will focus on the solution discussion of the worksheets I made. Their solutions, I would record on my laptop notes annotation. Explaining the core concept of the tool or information used to get the answer.

On Saturday, before the clubs start, I will spend 1 hour completing the discussion of the worksheet given on Friday. On Sunday, after all clubs' necessary activities end, or around 3 pm, I will teach for 5.5 hours on the creative aspect and deep understanding of theory taught in homerooms, even teaching some things out of the school syllabus if needed to create a good, comprehensive understanding. It will last for 5.5 hours.

On Sunday, after clubs end, or around 3 pm, I would teach the weaker students, focusing on core fundamentals, instead of hoping for a score of full marks. As such, the core concepts of each chapter will be taught to make the last day of cramming easy for them. It will last for 4 hours. In the next 1 and a half hours, I will make them work on their physical skills and stamina. Since they already want to strive for class A, convincing will not be difficult; having some people who can run decently fast and have some sense of sports mechanics would be ideal.

That is my core plan. Of course, taking breaks, changing, and moving from study sessions to the ground will be in those same 5.5 hours.

Kanzaki replied, "You sure think of things differently than others."

"I guess someone here is bad at appreciating good plans..." I replied

"..." he replied, or did he. Who replies like that! Can I even call that a reply?

"Anyways, I need to prepare the materials. See ya later!"

"Yeah, see you."

After I kept my phone, I got to work on the worksheets.

(T/N: Let's analyze Shikakoi Souta's question policy. He operates on a core understanding of concepts. So, even a simple 1+1 = 2 question can be made complicated by including applications. Let's take a look at an example...

A man came into his locked room and kept a stone next to another on a table in the afternoon. Given that the room in which the table was locked and no one entered before this stone was kept, and that there was only one stone before the man came back in, what is the total number ofstones?

Of course, this is a 1+1 problem; an actual problem will involve high-school subjects... The breakdown of this question is, one has to understand that there was one stone before, another was put beside it, and the total is found by addition.)

I messaged Ichinose afterwards, explaining my study sessions.

"But I do not think that we should give worksheets before the first session."

"Trust me on that," I replied.

"Okay. I take it you want me to announce them?"

"Your understanding of things makes things faster."

"Hehe! Then count on me."

"Alright then, I will make the worksheets now. See you later."

"Later...", she replied.

After I made the worksheets, I went out to get them printed, came back to keep them in my bag, then I went out for a workout, came back, cooked dinner, ate, took a bath, and went to sleep.

May 2 was a beautiful day. Before homeroom, Ichinose-san went to the podium and announced, "Everyone, I would like your attention for a moment."

She drew attention instantly. Her serious expression is very rare after all, since she has a cheerful personality.

"Shikakoi-kun has made worksheets for us. Or rather, he will make worksheets for us every day from now on."

I took it as my cue, and took out a few stacks of 30 worksheets, and distributed them with the help of Kanzaki, since everyone was pretty stunned I took the trouble of making them. Since there are 24 students excluding me, 6 worksheets are extra in each stack.

Also, this time, I have the money needed to take the printouts. I am not broke like the first month.

Ichinose nodded and continued, "You can attempt the worksheets whenever you feel like it, but please make sure to submit them the next day for correction. The computer file of it and the solution recording will be shared with the group after the submission is confirmed for every student."

"Why can't we just have the solution recording and check them for ourselves?"

"The reason will be revealed later. For now, just place your trust in me."

The class response was obviously optimistic. Everyone trusted her.

The main reason I chose this approach was to choose for myself who can score full, and who cannot. Also, if a weak student aims to score full marks, then they can attend both the Saturday and Sunday study sessions. That was my thought process.

After the worksheets were distributed and everyone looked at the problems, everyone was confused.

"Ichinose-san, this is not like our school tests," someone said, waving the worksheet.

"Yes, it is not. But it is from our syllabus. That is why instead of having 100 mark worksheets, they are made for 50 marks."

The class seemed to want to say more, but then Hoshinomiya-sensei entered the class.

Ichinose also promptly went back to her seat. And homeroom went like normal.

After classes ended, I was called to the student council.

I knocked three times, and a voice came: "Come in."

As expected, it was Horikita-senpai.

"Sorry for the intrusion. May I take a seat?" I said, walking towards the table he was sitting at.

"Yes."

That's way too formal a tone, and with his icy cold demeanor, it was clear that intimidation was a habit for him. This is, of course, a strength and a limitation, as a situation needing tenderness and acknowledgement of weakness is out of his reach.

"Your class did brilliantly in the first month. Congratulations. Saving 860 class points is a rare feat, especially for class B." He said, even clapping. But it only seemed like a sarcastic remark.

"How much do you know about the S-system?" He asked, suddenly serious.

Suddenly, a girl with a bun hairstyle came in, carrying some files with her. But seeing Horikita-senpai's eyes still on me, I decided against greeting her.

"I know some things. Points can buy anything, class points depend on how students behave and what results they produce, and if we surpass class A in points, we will be promoted to class A, and they will be demoted to class B."

She started working on her own. Judging by her work in sorting files, I would say she has been in the council for a long time. At least half a year.

"Let me put it in simpler terms. How quickly did you figure it out?" He asked.

"And what do I get for answering you?" I asked.

"What would you want?"

"Previous year papers, quizzes, etc."

"And you owe me a favour." He added.

"Deal." I said.

The girl seemed surprised. Was it whether I had the attitude to strike a deal despite being a first year, or because Horikita-senpai was actually considering that I owing him a favour would do him good, I have no idea.

"How about sharing contact details to agree on a date afterwards? I would need to look around for the papers after all."

"Ok." I said, pulling out my phone.

After we exchanged contact details, I said, "Now that we have conversed, I believe I should take my leave."

He simply nodded, and I left.

Honestly, my life is so exhausting. Making worksheets, recording solutions, following Sudo, and now studying sessions on my weekends too. And I am the one responsible for this. Not only that, but I owe senpai a favour. This will lead to no good, I know this, but it is a necessary sacrifice.

And the worst part is, and the worst part is, I walked into all of this willingly....

Well, no point in thinking too much.
