Chapter 9 - Chapter 9. Pit

Ria

I woke up feeling refreshend and new. No, I was better than new. It was as if my whole body had changed and I was a new me. I felt unstoppable.

I woke up ready for a day of taking care of the children when I realized I was no longer home. I didn't even know where I was.

My heart broke a little more, the jagged pieces embedding themselves deeper and deeper into what was left.

" I have to get out of here"

I looked around, but as I had suspected yesterday there was no way out. The only exit had been hidden away when Arsheus had disappeared. That meant I had to wait for him to come over and fetch me before I could leave or even go to the bathroom. Great!

Just when I was pissing myself too. Just great.

" First clothes and then I'll think about everything else"

I walked over to the wardrobe and chose a beautiful long gown. The whole thing was made of blue silk embedded with freaking diamonds!

I stared at the beautiful mounstrousity that could feed a while city for more than a year. If I managed to run away with that dress I would never have to go hungry or do any kind of job. I'd be free.

A smile spread across my lips. To thing that the demon didn't even think that far. He was stupid.

I looked more at the wardrobe and found that most dresses were similar. They were all made out of silk and had different gemstones sewn into them.

If only I could take them all out.

It was a pity that I couldn't. It'd be too noticable, and I couldn't even rip the gems off and hide them with me since no dresses had pockets. Maybe the demon wasn't as stupid as I had thought. Still, I could make do with a small fortune.

I smiled as I picked up the dress covered in diamonds, the most expensive one, and put it on.

The moment the silk touched my skin I felt like a new me. The fabric was so soft I didn't even notice I was wearing it.

The dress clung to my chest without revealing anything and then flowed downwards, creating a waterfall like effect near my ankles.

It was gorgeous.

Every time I spun I could see the diamonds reflecting the light from the torches on the wall. It was as if I was a source of light myself.

I couldn't stop looking at the dress and at myself and smiling. I was gorgeous.

I wasted a good chunk of time spinning in my room after finally finding the bathroom that had it's door hidden behind a wardrobe, enamoured by the way the dress opened when I twirled. I loved it.

" You look like a pig. Can we go now?"

When I heard a voice I jumped up high before twisting my whole body to look at the nonexistent door that had suddenly materialized itself. And leaning on the door was Arsheus, wearing a smile I could only describe as diabolical.

I stared at his bare chest and swallowed. As I had suspected the guy was ripped. His whole body was lean and filled with muscles. His abs looked rock solid and soft to the touch.

How would it feel to touch them?

I bit my lower lip and clenched my tights. Bad girl, I shouldn't be drooling over my enemy. Plus, I was planning on running away from here as soon as I could. This whole idea was a big no-no.

" Did you hear me?"

I tilted my head to look at him. Had he said something?

" What, distracted by my magnificent body?" Arsheus placed his hand on his hair and the other one on the door, giving me a perfect view of his golden abs.

My pussy throbbed looking at him and my heart raced faster. Bad girl.

" What body?" I put all the hatred I was capable of in a smile as I spoke.

Arsheus smirked but didn't say anything else. Thank God for that.

" As I was saying let's go"

" Where?"

" You'll see" Arsheus spun and begun walking away. Motherfucker never said where we were going or what we were doing. One of this days I was going to get angry for sure and then he'd see he couldn't just order me around like a dog. I'd have to comply for now, though. I needed his blood to get out of this hellish world.

I clenched my fists and begun walking.

" By the way" Arsheus twisted his head to look at me. " I would change if I were you"

My hands went cold and sweat begun trickling down my spine. Did he know what I was planning? Did he know I was planning on running away with the gemstones? Was I in danger?

I looked at Arsheus's eyes for answers, but there were none in his face. On his eyes all I could read was cold indifference.

Well, if he didn't know I wasn't going to take this dress off. It was my ticket to a comfortable life out of this hell and back at home. I wasn't taking it off.

" I'm fine as I am"

Arsheus shrugged and kept walking.

I swore and put on the first pair of shoes I could find and walked after him.

I had made the worst choice of my life. I should've listened to the demon for once in my life, but in my defense I didn't know we'd be walking deep into the mountains where snow covered every single inch of terrain and then more.

My beautiful dress was no match for the snow and the small and dainty shoes I had chosen made my feet hurt and had half broken at a quarter of the path, so now I was stuck with broken shoes, which weren't super comfortable.

" How much more left?" I whined like a little kid, but Arsheus didn't even listen to me.

I was tired of walking, my beautiful dress was now half broken and most of the diamonds were gone and lost in the snow and to top it off my shoes were now more like a half cover for my feet. I wanted to get out of here!

" Couldn't you have done what you did with the rock to get there?"

" No"

No? Was that all he answered me after he had made me walk like a maniac and lose all my strength?

I gritted my teeth and kept walking slowly. I didn't know what he wanted, but what I did know was that it couldn't be anything good. With Arsheus it never was.

He didn't speak to me the rest of the way as he set the pace, breaking my poor legs and what was left of the beautiful dress.

Looking down at the hem I could see it was utterly destroyed. Next time I would just bring plain clothes. I hated breaking such a beautiful work of art.

" We're here"

When Arsheus finally uttered the words I had been waiting so long to hear I felt nothing more than relief. I fell to the ground, relieved that the torture was over and really thankful for the magic that was keeping me warm even in the dead of...winter? Or whatever this was.

The same moon that we had seen yesterday hadn't moved from the sky even an inch. By now I was almost sure that it couldn't move and always stayed up, lightly illuminating the sky.

" Come here"

I gritted my teeth when I heard Arsheus calling to me as if I was a dog, but did as he wanted. I didn't want to get lost or stranded in an alien planet.

" What do you want?"

I walked up slowly to where he was. As soon as I reached him I bended over and puked all my food.

There was a crater big enough to fit a whole house a few steps away from where we had stopped, but that wasn't the bad part.

In the hole there were thousands of corpses, good as new. The snow had kept them fresh and now I had to watch the massacre. Not even a single one of them had died a pacific death. All of them had been murdered. Some of them had chest wounds while others were missing their heads and the whole pit was covered in red.

What the fuck had happened here?

I stared at Arsheus, who was calm, not showing any signs of emotions as he looked down at the pit.

" What happened?"

" Angels"

Arsheus didn't say anything else after that, but he didn't need to. The demons had been massacred during the great war. I knew it had happened. I had been told during my whole life it was a proud moment, but the truth was it was just death. Desolate death.

I wiped my mouth and got up, backing away until I couldn't see the pit anymore.

I wasn't going near the pit again. Even the air smelled coppery from how much blood had been spilled on this place.

My heart ached when I thought about it. All those demons had had families and people that loved them. They had all died an horrific death.

Maybe angels weren't the good guys.

I shooky head and immediately pushed that thought away.

The demons were the bad ones. I was just watching the consequences of their misbehavior. They had to die because they were evil. They had died fighting. There was no reason to feel sad for them or pity them. They were evil.

Something in my gut screamed I was wrong, but I pushed that unformed though deep down into my mind. I didn't want to know it. I didn't want to question everything I had ever known. They were the evil ones. That was all.

" Come here"

" I don't want to go there"

I pushed against Arsheus's wishes and stayed where I was, where I couldn't see the blood or the broken corpses inside. What I could see were the spirits.

I hadn't noticed them before since I had been too focused on the corpses but now that I looked around I could see there were spirits everywhere. All of them looked at me with their shiny red eyes, eyeing me like prey.

I pulled my gaze away from them and focused back on Arsheus's back. At least that was a safe target. I watched his muscles move and swallowed. Relatively safe.

" Bring them back"

What?

I stared at Arsheus searching for any signs that he was kidding, but he was serious, not even a hint of a smile on his lips.

" You want me to.... What? Bring them back so that you can have your army and attack the angels?"

I backed away slowly, looking at the path we had taken to come here. The snow was thinner over there. If I run fast enough I might make it. I didn't know what I'd do later, but I had to run. I wasn't going to help a demon raise back his army and attack my people. That was why he needed me. He had never forgotten I had brought him back. It was foolish of me to think that maybe he wanted me for the company. Demons were the bad guys.

Arsheus moved so fast all I saw was a flash of black mear my face and then a dagger was pressing against my neck. The same dagger I had stabbed Arsheus with through the neck. Funny how irony worked.

I swallowed and the dagger scrapped my neck. Red blood started flowing out of the wound but Arsheus seemed unbothered.

He was going to kill me if I didn't obey him. I was just a tool to him. My heart raced and fear gripped me. How could I get out of here?

I searched desperately for a way out, but all I could see were the spirits and that was a big no. That was how I had gotten into this mess in the first place.

" I'm not giving you a choice"

Arsheus took another dagger out of his pants while still threatening me with the other one to my neck and cut my hand.

He grabbed me and dragged me to the pit as my blood dripped into the ground.

I tried to resist but it was useless. He was stronger.

I could only close my eyes as my blood dripped onto the corpses and hope that whatever had worked for Arsheus wouldn't work for them.

Now that I thought about it I had touched a seal when I had brought Arsheus back. Maybe this would all fail and Arsheus would finally let me go.

The dark gut feeling inside me told me that wasn't going to happen.

When the whole ground begun rumbling and threatened to skewer me with the dagger I finally opened my eyes. Only then did I notice the seal Arsheus had written all over the pit.

Fuck!
