Chapter 9 - sanity

Searching for a needle in a haystack was a fool's task.

Searching for three abstract colors Red, Blue, Green in a world driven by trillions of digital data was an impossibility.

No Name understood that his physical power, no matter how overwhelming Pure Darkness was, could not hack secure servers or read ancient archives.

He needed a mind behind his strength. He needed proper facilities.

One night, as he walked calmly through the city, someone entered his life.

A thin young man named Kael.

Kael was a data rat a street hacker capable of breaching mid-level corporate firewalls for a handful of credits.

At first, their relationship was purely transactional. No Name provided absolute protection from the loan sharks of the lower districts, and in return, Kael tracked every myth, energy anomaly, and ancient archive connected to those three colors.

For nearly two years, they worked like shadows.

Kael was the only human who dared to speak to No Name without trembling. Sometimes, he even handed him cheap canned coffee during their sleepless nights in front of flickering monitors inside their rundown base.

Without realizing it, No Name began to leave a small crack in his defenses.

He thought Kael was an ally.

But in a rotting world, trust was the deadliest poison.

One night, acid rain poured relentlessly. Kael managed to uncover the coordinates of an ancient energy anomaly hidden within the secret servers of Aegis Dynamics a massive corporation that controlled weapons technology in the city.

But the price of that information was too high for Kael's sanity.

Aegis traced his hack. They didn't send police. They sent an elite squad of bounty hunters.

And Kael faced with the choice between torture or instant wealth chose the coward's path.

He sold No Name out.

"I'm sorry… They offered me a ticket to the upper district," Kael stammered as he slowly stepped back, just as the walls of their base were blown apart from the outside.

Dozens of laser sights locked directly onto No Name.

But the most pathetic part, to him, wasn't the ambush.

It was what happened next.

The commander of the bounty hunters shot Kael in the head without hesitation.

The bullet pierced straight through his skull. He collapsed instantly, his body hitting the ground as blood splattered across the floor mixing with the spilled canned coffee on the concrete.

To the corporations, a street hacker was nothing more than a disposable tool.

No Name stood still, surrounded. His gaze rested on Kael's lifeless body.

No anger. No grief.

In that moment, the last fragment of his humanity his ability to trust froze and shattered into nothing.

"Target locked. Execute," the commander ordered.

A barrage of plasma fire filled the room.

Not a single shot hit.

The temperature dropped instantly. The air compressed. Shadows from every corner of the room twisted and rose, devouring the light from neon lamps and laser fire.

WUSHHH!

Pure Darkness didn't just form armor it became a predator.

The black mist surged like a tidal wave, swallowing the elite bounty hunters whole.

No screams echoed the void consumed their voices.

Within seconds, the room fell silent, leaving behind melted weapons and black ash scattered across the floor.

No Name stepped out of his destroyed base.

He didn't look back at Kael's corpse.

Now he understood if he wanted to find those three colors, he couldn't rely on cooperation.

He had to take control of the world itself.

"This world…" he muttered coldly.

"Just watch… what I'm about to turn it into."
