Camouflage gear is essential for any forest adventure it deceives the eyes of both humans and Pokémon.
Hisoka hopped onto his mountain bike. A recently awakened Lulu yawned adorably and floated onto his shoulder using her telekinesis, nuzzling her head against his neck.
He linked his sports watch to his handheld computer, inputting the Sneasel's coordinates. The navigation system pinged, and Hisoka pedaled toward the looming trees of the Viridian Forest.
Viridian Forest was a paradise for Bug types, housing billions of them. The most iconic was the Kanto region's mascot: Caterpie. The moment you entered the forest, you could see them crawling along branches, lazily devouring leaves.
Caterpie were the most numerous Pokémon in the forest, but they were also at the absolute bottom of the food chain. Unlike Weedle, which were protected by swarms of adult Beedrill,
Caterpie were defenseless. Butterfree didn't stay to protect their young once they hatched, making Caterpie easy prey for Pidgeotto and Spearow.
Slow and weak, they were a type-disadvantaged delicacy for the forest's avian predators.
Hisoka found a secluded spot and marked it before covering his bike with a camouflage tarp and a layer of brush. Deeper into the forest, the vines and thickets became too dense for a bicycle; he would have to retrieve it later.
The coordinates were still a fair distance away. He had to pick up the pace. He tucked Lulu into his collar and leaped onto a thick branch. With expert coordination, he moved through the canopy like a modern-day Tarzan.
Whenever the gap between trees was too wide or he encountered a small ravine, Lulu would simply use Teleport to bridge the distance.
Finally, as the sun dipped toward the horizon and the light began to fade, a weary Hisoka reached the coordinates.
He checked the reference photos. Thirty meters to his left was a small pond. He looked over and saw the exact same water source. He also found the remains of several Caterpie under a large tree likely the leftovers from the Sneasel's meal.
"Has it really fallen so far that it's eating Caterpie?" Hisoka knelt to examine the remains, a strange look in his eyes.
Sneasel were carnivores, but they rarely ate Caterpie. A Caterpie's iconic V-shaped antenna released a foul stench when the creature was attacked.
Because of this, most predators aside from some bird Pokémon avoided them. Research clearly stated that Sneasel did not hunt Caterpie.
There was only one exception: when a Sneasel could not hunt higher-quality prey, it would resort to the forest's easiest meal to survive.
Sneasel were pack hunters, similar to African hyenas. In a group, they were a match for Tyranitar, but their individual combat prowess shouldn't be underestimated. Combined with their cunning and vicious nature, there were very few Pokémon in Viridian Forest that could truly threaten them.
It was getting late, and the long journey had left him exhausted. Hisoka decided to rest and eat before tracking the Sneasel further.
When camping in the wild, the golden rule was to never pitch a tent near a water source, unless you wanted to be attacked by wild Pokémon coming for a drink during the night.
Hisoka's tent was a new inflatable model from Silph Co. It didn't require manual assembly and was made of special rubber that could adapt to any terrain. Once inflated, the ten-square-meter tent provided a comfortable space with an air mattress and sofa.
