Chapter 27 - Such a Quick Change of Face

*My beautiful group of girls changes faces so quickly.*

The principal's politeness left Su Ming frozen in place. *This change of approach is too bizarre!* Just moments ago, he'd been preparing to send Su Ming home, and now he was actually encouraging him to hit harder. For a moment, Su Ming became curious about Qin Yuan's identity. *She's a rich girl, sure, but there are plenty of rich second-generation kids around. Even if the principal wanted to show her respect, he wouldn't be this deferential, would he?*

"Fang Chen, take this expulsion notice and dismiss all the students who participated in the fight earlier," the principal said, stamping a document and handing it to security guard Fang Chen.

"This...?" Fang Chen stood frozen, speechless.

"Do you have any objections?" the principal asked, his voice hardening slightly. *Come on, kid, just cooperate!* he thought. *I'd rather offend the consultant than the big shot from the underworld. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to keep my job as principal.*

"No, no objections. I'll go right now and kick them out of the school," Fang Chen replied, though he found the sudden shift too abrupt. He nodded and took the expulsion notice, deciding to handle it professionally.

In the school infirmary, Liu Shaofeng cried out in pain. Even after receiving treatment, the throbbing pain from his broken left arm persisted, and tears streamed from his eyes.

Yun Yong was also furious. Having suffered a major setback today, he vented his anger, "No, this can't stand. My brother-in-law will handle this later. Once that kid's expelled, I'm going to get some weapons and cut him down."

"Right! We need to chop that bastard into pieces! Damn it, he broke my left arm! If I can't get revenge myself, I'll ask Big Brother to do it," Liu Shaofeng snarled.

"You're the students who were causing trouble earlier, aren't you?" Fang Chen and a group of school guards entered the infirmary. Fang Chen spoke calmly.

"Yeah! Can't you see my left arm's broken?" Liu Shaofeng glanced at the guards and asked, "What are you here for? The patient needs rest—don't disturb him."

Their anger had been dampened by the guards' arrival, and they were clearly annoyed. Fang Chen sneered, "Sorry, you're no longer students of Shitian Middle School. You can't stay here to rest."

"What? What are you talking about? If we're not students of Shitian, are we from another school?" The two men's faces twisted with displeasure.

Fang Chen chuckled lightly. "This is the expulsion notice. The Principal has decided to expel all of you, along with the students who caused trouble earlier. Go back, pack your things, and get out. No, you few, help them throw their things out of the campus. Don't let them set foot here again."

"Yes, Captain Fang Chen," the guards beside him nodded in unison and exited the infirmary.

"Fang Chen, you motherfucker, are you out of your mind? You dare touch our things? We'll tear you apart, you bastard!" Yun Yong snarled, his face contorted with rage. *I thought he was here to expel Su Ming. Why is he expelling me instead?*

Fang Chen sneered. "I've been more than polite by not using this stick to escort you out. Stop your shouting. Believe it or not, I'll swing this thing and send you flying. Move it, or don't blame me when I get rough!"

"Damn it..."

"Let's take this guy down! Look at him acting so smug!"

Their faces twisted with resentment. They charged at Fang Chen, throwing punches from both sides in an attempt to sandwich him.

But who was Fang Chen? As the head of the school guards, he commanded both authority and respect. Moreover, his brutal military training had honed him into a formidable fighter, far beyond the reach of these two.

Impatiently, Fang Chen swept his leg straight out, sending Liu Shaofeng flying out the door in a heap. Liu Shaofeng landed three somersaults, nearly losing consciousness. At the same time, Fang Chen swung the iron rod toward Yun Yong's chest. Yun Yong felt a crushing force slam into his chest, his face instantly turning deathly pale. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, and Fang Chen quickly subdued him, leaving him utterly defeated.

"Get out!" Fang Chen said coldly, driving the group out of the school.

"I won't accept this! Why was it me who got expelled? No, I need to see my brother-in-law. He'll settle this for me," Yun Yong said, his voice filled with cold fury.

"You have no chance. Leave now, or don't blame me if this rod shows no mercy," Fang Chen said expressionlessly.

Helpless, Yun Yong and his group temporarily left the campus. But Yun Yong immediately called his brother-in-law, Hu Shan. When Hu Shan learned of the incident, he went to speak with the Principal, confident that the Principal would grant him this favor.

"Hu Shan, you should stay out of this. You don't want to get burned," the Principal said lazily, puffing on his cigar.

"Why? He's just an ordinary student. Why is he making such a fuss? Why is he making you go to such lengths?" Hu Shan was puzzled. Did that student really have some extraordinary ability?

The principal exhaled a plume of smoke. "I told you not to meddle, but you won't let it go, will you? It's not that I don't want to save you face, but this is a situation where I can't. Of course, that student doesn't have any special skills, but there's a rude, wild girl speaking up for him, and I can't do anything about it."

"Wild girl? Who is she?"

"Qin Ying's daughter." The principal's face hardened as he spoke. That girl had shown him no respect today.

Hu Shan shuddered violently. At the mention of Qin Ying's name, beads of sweat broke out on his forehead. His earlier anger and indignation vanished, replaced by a look of sheer terror.

Sweating profusely, Hu Shan said, "Forget it. I knew this would backfire on me. It's not worth it for that Yun Yong kid."

"Good that you understand. Now, let this matter drop. Don't make any waves. Go back and discipline that kid. If he wants to die, let him die. Ugh, what's this got to do with me, the principal? Cigarette, cigarette." The principal lazily lit another cigarette, his mouth perpetually clamped around a cigar, as if this were the height of cool.

Inside the classroom, Tian Keke saw Su Ming return to class as if nothing had happened. Her eyes welled up with tears as she rushed to him and threw herself into his arms. Su Ming smiled and hugged her in front of the entire class, saying, "It's okay now. Look how worried you were."

Tian Keke forced a smile. "Why are you back in class unharmed? It doesn't make sense! How could the school expel Liu Shaofeng and the others instead of kicking you out?"

"Uh, you... you wanted me to get expelled?" A dark line appeared on Su Ming's face.

"Hehe, not really! I'm just happy you get to stay, because... because you protect me." As she said this, Tian Keke lowered her head, her voice fading to a whisper.

The other students watched the couple with envy, their eyes burning with jealousy at this romantic scene.

Qin Yuan sat at her desk, refusing to look up. Inside, she chuckled bitterly. *I helped Su Ming today, only to end up playing Cupid for their love story. This big sister is so unlucky! Why did I even help Su Ming? That scoundrel is the one I hate the most!*

Su Ming released Tian Keke and walked over to Qin Yuan. He looked at her calm expression, knowing that this proud woman would never accept his thanks. But Su Ming was a man who always expressed gratitude when someone helped him—otherwise, he wouldn't be true to himself. "Thank you!" he said.

"It, it wasn't a big deal! You don't need to thank me!" Qin Yuan replied flustered, turning her head away from Su Ming.

"Tsundere?"

Someone in the class muttered this.

Qin Yuan's face flushed crimson, and she had the urge to grab the bastard and beat him up.

Su Ming asked, "Why did you help me?"

This question puzzled him. Logically, it shouldn't have happened. Their relationship was complicated; why would she speak up for him in front of the Principal?

Actually, Qin Yuan was also seeking the answer to this question. Why had she helped Su Ming? When Su Ming asked, she was stumped. *What should I say? That damn Su Ming, can't you just not ask? Hmph, since you're so curious, I'll tell you... "It's simple. The reason I helped you is that I actually wanted to punch you. Hmph, hmph."*

If her previous behavior was tsundere, this was now *qijiao*—a mix of anger and pride.
