Will I be expelled?
"What's going on here? What are you all doing? Instead of attending class, you're here fighting, aren't you?" Four School Guards suddenly rushed out of the jungle, led by Captain Ning Chen, who shouted loudly.
Ning Chen saw over a dozen students beaten badly, their faces covered in blood, some collapsed on the ground, others writhing in pain. Not a single one was unharmed. A furious expression flashed across his face as he demanded, "Who did this? Confess immediately!"
"I did it," Su Ming said, standing up without denial. The incident had clearly gotten out of hand, and the consequences were unknown, but expulsion was certain. He might even have to go to the police station.
Ning Chen glanced at Su Ming, a flicker of disbelief in his eyes. One student had beaten more than a dozen, sustaining only a bloody lip while the others were completely unharmed. This student was clearly a formidable fighter—perhaps the king of the second grade. But this wasn't his concern. Since a serious injury incident had occurred, his duty was clear. "You three, take the injured students to the infirmary."
"Yes," several School Guards nodded, helping Liu Shaofeng and the others away.
Ning Chen turned to Su Ming. "What's your name?"
"Su Ming."
"Oh, Su Ming, is it! Your fighting skills are impressive, but you went too far. If you want to fight, do it outside the school. Run if you get hurt, or if you can't win. But fighting inside the school and causing this trouble... While I admire your skills, I have to follow procedure. Come with me to the Principal's office." Ning Chen said, his voice firm.
Su Ming nodded in agreement. Tian Keke, her hand gripping his arm, looked at him with worry. Su Ming smiled. "It's fine. At worst, I'll be expelled and have to pay medical fees. They're not going to eat me, are they?"
Though he had no powerful connections, Su Ming wasn't afraid. He followed Ning Chen to the Principal's office. The Principal was an old man in his seventies, but he cut a dashing figure, a cigar clamped between his teeth and an lecherous grin plastered across his face.
"Principal, this student injured several others," Ning Chen said, recounting the incident.
The Principal raised his eyebrows in surprise. Fights happened daily at school, but a single student taking down over a dozen others was truly rare.
"Su Ming, you injured someone, and that's your fault. I don't care who you were protecting when you acted; those are irrelevant. As the principal, I must deal with you severely. I'm expelling you. Can you accept that?" the principal said with a smile.
"Whatever. I didn't expect to stay anyway," Su Ming replied indifferently.
The principal continued, "Of course, I'm a man of integrity. I won't leave you completely high and dry. You broke Liu Shaofeng's left arm, which should mean a police report and legal proceedings. However, that would damage the school's reputation. Since you acted to protect others, you have the moral high ground. If this gets out, Shitian High School's reputation will suffer. How about this? I'll suppress the matter, pay his medical expenses, and you can pack your bags and go home."
"Principal, this is a rip-off! Those guys started the fight—why only expel Su Ming and not them?" Suddenly, two figures appeared at the doorway. The speaker was Qin Yuan, the school's beauty queen, who glared at the principal with visible displeasure. Xia Lina followed close behind; after such a major incident, she couldn't stay away.
Su Ming's previous help to Xia Lina had already earned him her goodwill. As the homeroom teacher of Class Two-Nine, she felt responsible for investigating the incident and trying to keep Su Ming.
Su Ming found it strange. Why was Qin Yuan being so protective of him today? Their relationship wasn't that close, was it?
"Oh my, where did this wild girl come from? Shouting at the principal like that? What's your status here?" The principal glanced lazily at Qin Yuan, his voice dripping with impatience. "I'm the principal. My decisions are final. Go back, go back! This is outrageous!"
"Go to hell, you scummy principal! I'm talking to you! How dare you try to dismiss me? What a trash principal!" Qin Yuan retorted without holding back.
The principal seethed. His dignity as the school's leader had been challenged by a mere student. "Forget it, forget it. I'm too gentlemanly to argue with a wild girl like you." He wanted to explode, but his composure held him back. He propped a foot on his desk, lit a cigar, and addressed Xia Lina: "Xia Lina, are you here to defend Su Ming too? If so, you should leave. This matter is settled. The school can't just ignore the assault incident, can it?"
Xia Lina sighed helplessly. Just as she was about to plead on Su Ming's behalf, the Principal cut her off with a single sentence. She glanced at Su Ming and still asked, "Is there really no way to keep him?"
"No, my decision is as firm as thunder and lightning," the Principal said with a leering smile, his face twisted with lechery.
Xia Lina insisted, "Then you must also expel those students who started the fight. Otherwise, I can't accept this."
"Xia Lina, you should stay out of this. Let me be blunt: the reason I'm not expelling them is because Yun Yong's brother-in-law is a school advisor. I have to give the advisor some face," the Principal said, laying his cards on the table.
The meaning was clear: not giving the advisor face would bring no benefit to the school. Why would the Principal be foolish enough to help Su Ming?
Qin Yuan suddenly chuckled. "Lecherous Principal, so that's why you won't expel those troublemakers. Fine, then you give me some face too—don't expel Su Ming."
"You little brat!" the Principal roared, furious. "If you call me 'lecherous Principal' again, I'll challenge you to a duel! You believe me?" He lit another cigar with a disdainful flick. "Give you face? Do you take me for a fool? I'm the Principal—my decisions are worth tens of millions a second. If I start giving face to a brat like you, how will I ever show my face outside this school again?"
"Hmph, fine. If you don't give me face, I'll get my mom to tear down your school!" Qin Yuan said, playing with her hair with arrogant flair.
"Huh? Who's your mom?"
"Qin Ying."
*Splat!* The principal tumbled backward, landing face-first in a mouthful of ash. His eyes widened in a sweat-drenched face.
Qin Ying. The name alone was enough to make anyone in the underworld tremble. She was the undisputed queen of Yunyang City's criminal underworld, the leader of the Jade Forest Gang, one of the city's most notorious organizations. Her power was vast: 300 nightclubs, six major hotels, twelve drug markets, and countless other territories. In the legitimate sector, she controlled three companies and countless smaller businesses. In short, Qin Ying's name commanded respect—and fear—from both the underworld and the authorities.
The principal managed a wry smile. This ill-mannered girl before him was the daughter of *that* queen? How could she have enrolled in Shitian High School without any prior notification? If anything went wrong, he'd be the one to take the fall.
"Heh! So you're Sister Qin's daughter! Please, have a seat and some tea. I hope you'll excuse our lack of proper hospitality," the principal said with a smile, personally pouring tea and offering it to Qin Yuan with a warm, ingratiating grin.
Qin Yuan rolled her eyes. *This old lecher changes his tune so fast! What a shameless bastard, just as I expected from a scoundrel of a principal.* She took a deliberate sip of tea and asked, "Principal, are you still going to expel him?"
"How could I? It's an honor for our school to recruit a student with such exceptional skills! Su Ming, you really let me down. You should have beaten those bastards to a pulp! They're always causing trouble here, and I've tolerated them for too long. Actually, you've done me a huge favor! Now I can finally expel all those scumbags! Here, have some tea yourself. You must be tired from all that fighting. Rest is important." The principal had completely abandoned any semblance of dignity, his smile now one of pure sycophancy.
