Beneath the turbulent waves of the Gatekeeper's Sea, a chasm ripped the fabric of reality apart. A void manifested a kilometer away from the Great Eastern Wall.
However, the sea didn't fall into the void nor did the Benthos. In fact, when the murderous fish crashed into the rift by accident… it simply repelled them as if they weren't worthy of seeing what was on the other side.
Suddenly, the waves erupted – even larger than before. From the fragment, one hand reached out and grabbed onto the sea floor. Then, another hand came out as well… and two other followed in its wake.
Two burning crimson eyes ignited in the void with a hunger that could only be quelled by blood. A gargantuan monster leapt out from the Chaos Fragments.
It stood on its hind legs, with two extra arms attached to his back. It gazed at the gargantuan wall in front of it with its three eyes – the third one resting in the middle of his forehead with the same eerie crimson glow.
A low growl escaped from the beast's mouth. Towering above the Gatekeeper's sea which reached its waist, the abomination stepped forward and slowly approached the wall as more monsters rushed out of the gate behind it.
The other Chaos Beasts – driven by an insatiable hunger, began eating the Benthos. The murderous fish rallied together and attacked the Beasts in groups.
They howled as their flesh was torn apart, their corrosive blood spilling into the sea. As soon as their blood met the water, the liquid rapidly heated and caused both the Benthos and themselves great pain.
Albert gritted his teeth, clicking his tongue as cold sweat trickled down his pale face.
'There's really no knowing what's gonna comes outta these things…'
Exhaling, the General switched the final channel he had access to. Glancing at the massive beast approaching the wall, a cold shiver ran down his spine as he whispered:
"Colonel?"
A moment later, a voice replied to him.
"On our way, General. What's the situation?"
Grimacing, Albert responded in a restrictive tone.
"…Not so good. I think–"
Just then, he received an alert from the scientists in the control room. As he checked it, his face became slightly more pale.
"…Scratch that, it's Beta Class."
The Colonel grunted, seemingly moving on the other side of the call and responded in a solemn tone.
"Distance?"
Albert peered at the Chaos Fragment; calculating its distance with the Scorpion – 017.
"…1 kilometer."

The Colonel finally reached the top of one of the watchtowers. With his unit right behind him, he grabbed into the railings and jumped to the other side. Then, straining his muscles, he leapt onto a small ledge on the wall.
His unit followed behind him, using the exact route he had to jump onto the small ledge.
When the Chaote of the unit was about to jump though, the Colonel stopped him and shouted:
"Stay put! Cast the array from the tower."
The Chaote hesitated for a second, glancing at his captain. Then, he nodded and turned towards the harrowing Gatekeeper's sea – waiting.
The Colonel sighed and gazed forward. He narrowed his eyes, trying to locate the Chaos Fragment. He could see the four-armed abomination slowly approaching and the other monster swimming out but… he couldn't pinpoint the rift.
Sighing, he called out to Albert once more.
"Found it yet?"
Albert responded to him a second later.
"It's underwater. The scientists are still trying to figure out where though."
The Colonel grimaced, staring towards the Gatekeepers and closely monitoring the Chaos beast approaching them.
'Chaos is truly unpredictable… I haven't seen a giant like this in my whole career.'
Grunting, he stood up and stared at the approaching monster for a while.
Once the beast had gotten close enough, the automatic turrets that lined the wall fired, shooting countless bullets in its direction as well as towards the other beasts.
However, the bullets were crushed as soon as they landed on its skin. The four-armed abomination seemed undeterred, already halfway to the wall.
What could mere bullets hope to do to a Chaos Beast? To pierce the flesh of a being made of pure Chaos, the bullets had to be imbued with Will.
That raised a question as well – Why didn't enforcers use guns to fire at Chaos Beasts from afar and instead used katanas?
The reason was simple, really – Chaos Erosion.
Chaos had a natural eroding effect on Will because Will served as an Anchor or opposite against Chaos. So, the bullets even imbued would lose their spark of Will in due time.
The Will capacity of an object depended on its density after all – the more molecules an object had; the more Will could be infused without breaking the object.
Even then, it would be wildly ineffective to use a gun. Imbuing the gun with Will wouldn't imbue the bullets with Will since the bullets were separate objects sitting in the chamber of the gun.
Therefore, if a Chaos Incarnate wanted to imbue their bullets with Will, they had to individually take out their bullets, drive their Will into them and place them back in the gun.
The enhancement would last only 60 seconds and due to the unpredictable nature of Chaos Fragments, it simply wasn't worth risking.
These bullet, however, weren't imbued with any Will and so they simply were crushed by the Chaos Beast's physical biology.
That was why enforcers used katanas rather than guns.
The Colonel of the unit frowned.
The four-armed abomination was closing in on the wall – only a hundred meters left between it and the serpentine stone structure.
He grimaced and stood up, gripping the katana on his back. Pressing a button on its sheath, the katana was ejected out of its scabbard. The other enforcers followed suit, bringing out their katanas as well.
The Colonel exhaled, gripping his sword. Then, he lifted his head, staring the Chaos Beast directly in the eye.
"Keep the arms busy! Once the Beast is distracted, stab its core."
"Yes, sir!"
The others shouted, preparing for battle.
The Chaos Beast growled, its crimson eyes burning with an unknowable desire.
The Colonel grimaced and pressed the earbud on his right ear. Instantly, the small earbud morphed into a pair of glasses and covered his eyes.
However, then, the glasses expanded and transformed into a helmet that covered the Colonel's entire head. His eyes were replaced by two glowing stars as two circular valves appeared at his mouth.
The Colonel jumped, stepping onto the roof of the watchtower before leaping towards the four-armed abomination. The Beast swung one of its arms, swatting the Colonel away.
However, the captain was able to drive his katana into its flesh, using it as leverage to stick to the four-armed abomination. He grunted, gripping the hilt of his blade with all his might.
His bones ached and muscles trembled from the impact. Yet, he still held on.
The rest of the unit also transformed their earbuds into helmets and leapt towards the Chaos Beasts, driving their katanas into its flesh.
