Chapter 47 - When You Forgot Me , I Fell Again

Chapter 47: The Breaking Point

The café felt suffocating.

Lina couldn't breathe properly.

Pregnant.

She had been pregnant.

And she lost the baby.

Her hands trembled as she stared blankly at the table.

Tears silently rolled down her cheeks.

Adrian watched her, his heart twisting painfully.

"Lina…"

His voice was soft, careful.

She didn't answer.

Her mind replayed Dr. Lewis's words again and again.

"You lost the baby… during the accident."

Her chest tightened.

She pressed her lips together, trying not to cry.

But the pain felt unbearable.

Adrian reached for her hand gently.

She didn't pull away.

Instead, she gripped his hand tightly.

Her voice came out weak.

"I… lost our baby…"

Adrian's throat tightened.

"I didn't even know…"

Her tears fell harder.

Adrian pulled his chair closer.

"I'm sorry…"

She shook her head slowly.

"You didn't know…"

Her voice broke.

"But… it still hurts…"

Adrian couldn't say anything.

Because he felt the same pain.

The baby…

Their baby…

Gone.

Dr. Lewis spoke softly.

"I'm sorry for telling you like this… but you deserved to know."

Lina nodded weakly.

"Thank you…"

Her voice was barely audible.

Adrian took a deep breath.

Then asked quietly—

"Doctor… is there any proof?"

Dr. Lewis nodded.

"There are medical records."

Adrian's eyes hardened.

"I want copies."

Dr. Lewis nodded.

"I'll send them to you."

Adrian nodded.

"Thank you."

Dr. Lewis looked at them carefully.

"Be careful…"

Adrian frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Dr. Lewis lowered his voice.

"If Emily really manipulated things… then she's dangerous."

Lina's fingers tightened.

Dangerous.

The word echoed in her mind.

Adrian stood slowly.

"We'll be careful."

Dr. Lewis nodded.

"I hope so."

The ride back home was silent.

Lina stared out the window.

Her mind felt numb.

She imagined…

What if the baby lived?

What if…

Her chest tightened painfully.

Adrian glanced at her.

"Lina…"

She turned slightly.

"I'm okay."

But her voice betrayed her.

Adrian reached for her hand again.

This time, she leaned slightly toward him.

Seeking comfort.

He didn't say anything.

He just held her hand.

When they arrived home, Sophia and Daniel rushed toward them.

"What happened?" Sophia asked immediately.

Lina looked exhausted.

Adrian spoke calmly.

"We learned the truth."

Daniel frowned.

"What truth?"

Adrian hesitated.

Then said quietly—

"Lina was pregnant before the accident."

Sophia froze.

Daniel's eyes widened.

"What?"

Adrian continued.

"And… she lost the baby."

Sophia covered her mouth.

"Oh my god…"

Lina looked down.

Daniel clenched his fists.

"This…"

He looked furious.

"What else?"

Adrian's eyes darkened.

"The accident might not have been accidental."

Sophia frowned.

"You mean—"

"Emily."

Silence filled the room.

Sophia's face hardened.

"I knew it…"

Daniel shook his head.

"Do we have proof?"

Adrian shook his head.

"Not yet."

Sophia sighed.

"Then we need to be careful."

Adrian nodded.

"Yes."

Lina spoke quietly.

"What if… it's really her?"

Adrian looked at her.

"Then…"

His voice turned cold.

"I won't let her hurt you again."

Lina's heart skipped.

His words felt strong.

Protective.

She nodded slowly.

Later that night…

Lina sat alone in the bedroom.

The room felt quiet.

Too quiet.

Her mind replayed everything.

The accident.

The lost memories.

The baby.

Tears filled her eyes again.

She touched her stomach unconsciously.

"I'm sorry…"

She whispered softly.

"I'm sorry…"

A knock sounded.

She wiped her tears quickly.

"Come in."

Adrian entered quietly.

He saw her red eyes.

His heart tightened.

"You're still awake."

She nodded.

"Couldn't sleep."

He walked closer.

Then sat beside her.

Silence filled the room.

After a moment, he spoke softly.

"I wish… I remembered."

Lina looked at him.

"So do I."

He looked down.

"I wish… I remembered our baby."

Her eyes filled again.

She leaned slightly toward him.

Without thinking.

He gently wrapped his arm around her.

She didn't resist.

Instead, she leaned into his chest.

Seeking warmth.

Comfort.

His heartbeat felt steady.

Safe.

After a moment, she whispered—

"Do you think… we would've been good parents?"

Adrian smiled faintly.

"I think so."

She closed her eyes.

"I think so too."

Silence filled the room.

Peaceful.

But suddenly—

Her phone rang.

She frowned.

Unknown number.

She hesitated.

Then answered.

"Hello?"

A familiar voice spoke.

"Lina…"

Her eyes widened.

"Emily?"

Adrian's expression darkened immediately.

Emily's voice sounded calm.

"I heard… you met Dr. Lewis."

Lina froze.

How did she know?

"What do you want?"

Emily chuckled softly.

"I just wanted to warn you."

Lina frowned.

"Warn me?"

Emily's voice turned cold.

"Some truths… are dangerous."

Lina's heart pounded.

"Are you threatening me?"

Emily laughed softly.

"No."

Then her voice lowered—

"I'm protecting you."

The call ended.

Silence filled the room.

Adrian's expression turned ice-cold.

"What did she say?"

Lina swallowed.

"She knows…"

Adrian's eyes darkened dangerously.

"Then…"

His voice turned cold.

"The game begins."
