Chapter 48 - When You Forgot Me , I Fell Again

Chapter 48: The Woman From The Past

"The game begins."

Adrian's voice was cold — colder than Lina had ever heard before.

Lina looked at him, feeling a strange unease.

"Adrian…"

He turned toward her, his expression softening slightly.

"Don't worry."

But she could see it clearly now.

He was angry.

Very angry.

And when Adrian Harrison was angry… things got dangerous.

"She knows we met Dr. Lewis," Lina whispered.

Adrian nodded slowly.

"Which means… she's watching us."

Lina felt chills run down her spine.

"That's creepy…"

Adrian stood up.

"I'll increase security."

She frowned.

"Is that necessary?"

He looked at her seriously.

"Yes."

He grabbed his phone and dialed someone.

"Lucas."

A calm voice answered from the other side.

"Yes, boss."

"I want full security around the house. Starting now."

"Understood."

"And track Emily."

There was a short pause.

"Yes, boss."

Adrian ended the call.

Lina watched him quietly.

"You don't trust her at all…"

Adrian looked at her.

"I never did."

Lina hesitated.

"Then why…"

She stopped.

Adrian understood what she meant.

"Why did I meet her?"

Lina nodded.

He sighed quietly.

"Because… she was part of my past."

Lina lowered her gaze.

His past.

She still didn't know much about it.

And that made her uneasy.

The next morning…

Lina woke up feeling tired.

She barely slept last night.

Her mind kept replaying everything.

The baby.

Emily.

The accident.

She slowly got out of bed.

When she walked downstairs, she found Adrian already there.

He was talking with a man she didn't recognize.

The man looked professional.

Black suit.

Sharp eyes.

When Adrian saw Lina, his expression softened.

"Good morning."

She nodded.

"Morning."

Adrian gestured toward the man.

"This is Lucas."

The man nodded politely.

"Mrs. Harrison."

She smiled slightly.

"Hello."

Adrian explained—

"He's my head of security."

Lina nodded.

"I see."

Lucas spoke calmly.

"We've increased security around the house."

Lina felt slightly embarrassed.

"Isn't that too much?"

Lucas shook his head.

"No, ma'am."

Adrian added—

"It's just precaution."

Lina nodded slowly.

"Okay."

Lucas then handed Adrian a file.

"Also… we found something."

Adrian's eyes narrowed.

"What is it?"

Lucas looked serious.

"Emily met someone last night."

Lina's heart skipped.

"Who?"

Lucas opened the file.

"Marcus Blake."

Adrian's eyes darkened.

"Marcus…"

Lina frowned.

"Who's Marcus?"

Adrian looked at her.

"Someone dangerous."

Lucas continued.

"He's known for illegal business dealings."

Lina felt uneasy.

"Why would Emily meet him?"

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"That's what we need to find out."

Lucas nodded.

"We're still investigating."

Adrian closed the file.

"Keep watching them."

"Yes, boss."

Lucas left.

Lina looked worried.

"This is getting serious…"

Adrian nodded.

"Yes."

She hesitated.

"Adrian… do you think… Emily caused the accident?"

He stayed silent.

Then answered quietly—

"I don't know yet."

But his eyes told her otherwise.

Later that afternoon…

Lina decided to go out.

She needed fresh air.

Adrian insisted on sending security.

She sighed but agreed.

She went to a nearby café.

The quiet atmosphere helped her relax slightly.

She ordered coffee.

Then sat quietly.

But suddenly—

Someone sat across from her.

She looked up.

Her eyes widened.

A beautiful woman sat opposite her.

Long black hair.

Elegant dress.

Sharp eyes.

"Lina."

The woman smiled slightly.

Lina froze.

"Emily."

Emily looked calm.

"Long time no see."

Lina frowned.

"Why are you here?"

Emily tilted her head.

"I wanted to talk."

Lina felt uneasy.

"I don't think we have anything to talk about."

Emily smiled softly.

"Oh, we do."

Lina stayed silent.

Emily leaned slightly forward.

"You met Dr. Lewis."

Lina's eyes hardened.

"So?"

Emily smiled faintly.

"He told you everything… didn't he?"

Lina didn't answer.

Emily sighed.

"I didn't want you to find out this way."

Lina frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Emily's expression turned serious.

"The accident… wasn't planned."

Lina's heart pounded.

"You expect me to believe that?"

Emily looked directly at her.

"I didn't cause it."

Lina's eyes narrowed.

"Then why were you meeting Adrian?"

Emily smiled bitterly.

"Because… he came to me."

Lina froze.

"What?"

Emily nodded slowly.

"He asked to meet."

Lina's heart tightened.

"Why?"

Emily looked away.

"He was confused… after the accident."

Lina frowned.

"What did you tell him?"

Emily stayed silent for a moment.

Then spoke quietly—

"I told him… you might not love him anymore."

Lina's chest tightened.

"Why would you say that?"

Emily smiled sadly.

"Because… I wanted him back."

Silence fell.

Lina felt anger rising.

"You manipulated him."

Emily didn't deny it.

"Yes."

Lina clenched her fists.

"You're unbelievable."

Emily looked calm.

"But I didn't cause the accident."

Lina stared at her.

Emily continued—

"And Marcus…"

Lina frowned.

"What about him?"

Emily's eyes darkened.

"He's the one you should be worried about."

Lina's heart skipped.

"What do you mean?"

Emily leaned forward.

"Marcus wanted Adrian's company."

Lina froze.

"What?"

Emily nodded.

"He tried to threaten Adrian before."

Lina felt shocked.

"And when Adrian refused…"

Emily paused.

"The accident happened."

Lina's heart pounded wildly.

"You think Marcus did it?"

Emily nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Lina felt confused.

"Why are you telling me this?"

Emily smiled faintly.

"Because… I don't want you to get hurt."

Lina looked at her carefully.

"You expect me to trust you?"

Emily shook her head.

"No."

Then she stood up.

"But you'll find out soon."

Emily turned to leave.

But before leaving, she said softly—

"Be careful, Lina."

And then she walked away.

Lina sat frozen.

Her mind spinning.

Marcus.

Emily.

Adrian.

Everything felt complicated.

She grabbed her phone immediately.

"Adrian…"

Her voice trembled.

"I met Emily."
