What appeared in the cave was a monstrous contraption, a vehicle designed exclusively for the protection of the Anakis, fifty meters long and equipped with tracks on its sides for movement.
With five pairs of tracks, each four meters long, the engine used multiple air cylinders to move.
It had blades to cut through everything in its path ahead and various weapons mounted all around it.
It has several tubes around it with a system that compresses air for storage.
The Anaki people have a population of sixty-five; the vehicle created would be more than sufficient for their use, and its body was specifically designed to withstand prolonged combat. It was named the Liberator.
Max began helping to load the vehicle with the people's supplies and belongings.
When Max sat down in the control room, he was joined by Naviel and San.
The room had piston controls that directed the pressurized air outlets to designated locations.
Everyone was ready, and Max started the Liberator.
The gears began to turn inside, a noise echoed, and the vehicle slowly moved toward the cave's exit.
When it exited through the gate, it began to accelerate and destroy everything in its path.
Everyone looked serious; there was no turning back now.
In the village where Max had landed upon arriving in this world, a tremor so powerful began that all the houses that weren't already intact started to collapse.
And the noise grew louder and louder until a monster made of metal and gears appeared on the horizon—something completely out of place in the landscape.
When the liberator approached the village and advanced toward the obelisk, it stopped, and several Anakis disembarked.
Max, followed by Naviel and San, began preparing for what was to come.
Metal barricades were quickly erected, and various weapons were positioned around the village.
As this happened, several sentinels began to appear in the distance.
They were spherical in shape, floating a few meters above the ground, and were approaching.
When they came within firing range, the battle began.
The Liberator began firing its cannons, and several pneumatic weapons launched their attack.
Several shots rang out; when a sentinel was hit, it didn't fall but kept moving forward; after two shots, or when hit in the center, it stopped for good.
But they kept appearing, one after another, like an endless wave.
After several had fallen, a massive wave arrived that completely covered the horizon.
It seemed endless; they began firing at the Anakis, and soon there were casualties among the people.
Seeing this, Naviel said, "I'm going into battle for the glory of the Anakis."
Naviel went into battle, and his red tail was equipped with a thin blade that sliced through the sentinels like water. With every step, a sentinel fell.
As he slashed and fired his machine gun, a hole was torn in the crowd.
Several hot-headed Anakis—the largest ones—began moving to the front lines to help.
They were enthusiastic; it seemed that standing idle on this island without fighting had made their cold blood boil at that moment.
Each was equipped with a melee weapon on his tail.
They were like a meat grinder in the midst of battle.
Max shook his head, and with a stomp, he took off like a meteor streaking across the horizon.
He grabbed a sword and activated the pneumatic motor, which made it vibrate, increasing its cutting power.
He continued slicing through the sentinels in his path, and not a single shot managed to wound him.
A line followed the wave, looking like a scratch on a whiteboard.
He met up with Naviel, and the two smiled, standing together amidst the sentinels and beginning to clear the area, each covering the other's flank.
What felt like an eternity but was only a few minutes, the wave began to subside to a manageable level, thanks to the barricade.
When Max and Naviel reunited, they took stock and found there were a few wounded; their armor had held firm in the battle, needing only repairs.
Naviel sat down, panting, amid the chaos and said, "We must go to the center and investigate—the obelisk."
Max agreed, and Naviel and Sam headed to the center of the village.
