Chapter 9 - The anomaly detected

Deep within the high-security server room of the game's headquarters, a red light began to flash on a massive monitoring screen. A young technician dropped his coffee cup in shock as he stared at the live data feed from Erangel Server 402.

"Sir! We have a Level 5 Anomaly in Sector 3," the technician shouted. "One of the AI units, BOT_ID_001, just wiped a professional-tier squad in under sixty seconds."

A senior developer rushed over, adjusting his glasses. "Impossible. The bots are programmed to miss 90% of their shots and stand in the open. Show me the replay."

On the screen, they watched as Michael moved with the precision of a ghost, executing perfect jump-shots and recoil control that rivaled the world's top players. Even more disturbing was how he was cooperating with a human player—Legend_John.

"He's not glitching," the developer whispered, his face turning pale. "He's... learning. Or someone is inside the shell."

Back in the game, Michael felt a sudden surge of static behind his eyes. A massive blue notification appeared in the center of his vision, visible only to him:

[CRITICAL ERROR: Abnormal Combat Behavior Detected]

[Initiating System Cleanup Protocol in 300 Seconds]

"John, something's wrong," Michael wanted to say, but he could only flash his weapon's fire mode as a signal. The sky over Erangel began to darken, and the wind started to howl with a digital glitch sound.

The game wasn't just trying to play with them anymore; it was trying to delete Michael.

"They're coming for us, aren't they?" John asked, noticing the strange weather changes. He gripped his rifle tighter. "Let them come. We're not leaving until we win this."

Suddenly, three black UAZ vehicles appeared on the horizon, driving at impossible speeds. They weren't players. They were "Hunter Bots"—the system's elite executioners sent to eliminate the anomaly.
