The corners of Jason Forrester's eyes were red as he blocked the doorway. He showed no intention of moving, simply watching her in silence. Their gazes met, level and direct.
The words caught in Megan Kane's throat. She couldn't say them. In the end, she just sighed. There was nothing more to say.
He was standing right in front of her, yet she couldn't find a single reason to speak.
"I don't think there's anything left for us to talk about. Please, get out of my way."
"Jason Forrester, I've been exhausted by this relationship from the very beginning."
"Just let go. Let's give each other some dignity and make a clean break."
"There's nothing left for us to discuss."
"I haven't been wrong about any of this. If you don't believe me, you can think about it yourself."
With tears welling in her eyes, Megan Kane truly felt there was nothing left for them to say to each other.
