Chapter 38 - Akatong

Outside the room, Qiqi and little Yae stared expectantly at Crimson Beast's door.

Even Ren Kai and Guizhong were waiting.

Then the door opened.

A red-haired youth stepped out, dressed in a red robe. His bright smile revealed a row of sharp teeth that gleamed under the light.

"Hey, don't I look handsome?"

Crimson Beast laughed loudly.

"Yes, very handsome."

Qiqi nodded seriously.

"A little handsome."

"But compared to Mr. Madara, you're still a tiny bit behind."

Little Yae said with a playful grin.

"Not bad."

Guizhong examined him carefully. No one could have guessed that this cheerful young man was once the brutal Lava Demon God.

"Hahaha!"

Crimson Beast laughed even louder after hearing everyone's praise.

"Since you've abandoned your beastly nature and chosen to live as a human…"

"Then perhaps you should have a new name."

Ren Kai sensed Crimson Beast's emotions through the adepti's natural perception and spoke after some thought.

"Please grant me a name, Mr. Madara."

Crimson Beast stepped forward, knelt on one knee, and spoke sincerely.

"How about Akatong?"

"This name comes from a story."

"Once there was a nation trapped in endless darkness. A cheerful young man endured that darkness and eventually shattered it, bringing the dawn back to the people."

Ren Kai wanted Crimson Beast to begin a new life—just like the story behind the name.

Qiqi, little Yae, and Guizhong listened attentively and began clapping.

"Thank you for the name, Mr. Madara."

"I will not disgrace it."

Akatong raised his head and said seriously.

"Hehe, then we should call you Brother Akatong now."

Qiqi quickly reacted and spoke up.

Ren Kai was slightly surprised.

Qiqi's mental awareness was improving quickly.

Her true resurrection might not be far away.

"Akatong, that name is way better than the old one!"

"Come try my cooking!"

Guoba placed another table full of dishes and called out cheerfully.

"Alright, go eat."

Ren Kai noticed Akatong's attention drifting toward the food and waved him off.

"Hehe…"

Akatong scratched his head awkwardly.

"Come on, let's eat together."

Qiqi stood beside him and held out her hand.

"Okay."

Akatong took Qiqi's small hand and followed her to the table.

Nearby, Fuyun, Chunyan, and Xia Qing looked on with envy.

They were already too full to eat anymore and could only watch the immortals and demon gods feast.

Seeing this scene, Ren Kai began to think.

Humans living around gods and demon gods for too long would inevitably be affected.

Guizhong was harmless enough—but Akatong was different.

"Fuyun, come inside with me."

Ren Kai stood up and called him.

"Yes, Mr. Madara."

Fuyun was confused but followed him into the room.

"I intend to teach you an immortal technique."

"You must train diligently."

"You are not allowed to misuse it."

"And without my permission, you may not teach it to others."

Ren Kai spoke seriously.

"Thank you, Mr. Madara. I will follow your teachings faithfully."

Fuyun immediately knelt on the floor.

With his previous experience teaching Qiqi how to extract chakra, Ren Kai quickly taught Fuyun the method.

From his own practice, Ren Kai had discovered something interesting.

Extracting chakra also allowed the body to absorb elemental energy from the environment—naturally strengthening the body.

"You learn quickly."

"Go call Chunyan and Xia Qing."

Ren Kai nodded.

"Yes."

Fuyun answered solemnly.

After successfully extracting chakra once, Fuyun now regarded Ren Kai as a god in his heart.

Even if Ren Kai ordered him to climb a mountain of blades or plunge into a sea of fire, he would obey without hesitation.

Fuyun quickly returned to the courtyard.

Guizhong and Akatong immediately sensed the change in him.

Both were secretly shocked.

Rexasis truly possessed countless methods.

Fortunately, they were on his side.

Soon, Chunyan and Xia Qing also learned how to extract chakra.

They returned to the courtyard excitedly.

Over the next three days, gods, adepti, spirits, and humans all lived peacefully together in the small residence.

The only change was that Mingyun and Uncle Fu also learned the method of extracting chakra after Ren Kai personally taught them.

However, Ren Kai thought deeply about it.

The method for extracting chakra could not be made public yet.

Teyvat was filled with hidden dangers.

If this fragile balance were broken, a massive catastrophe might follow.

On the fifth day after moving into the residence—

Ping'er and Cloud Retainer came over again, as usual, to enjoy the food.

Everyone sat around the table chatting and laughing while eating.

"The monsters in the Liyue mountains have been much quieter lately."

Cloud Retainer said with a smile.

"That's true."

"I've finally had a few good nights of sleep."

Ping'er added.

"Well of course."

"When Big Brother Madara takes action, all the troublemakers get suppressed."

Guizhong said proudly.

Meanwhile—

Akatong, Qiqi, and little Yae were completely focused on eating, uninterested in the conversation.

Only Ren Kai felt something was wrong.

According to Rexasis's memories, the underground world and the Liyue mountains contained countless monsters.

They wouldn't calm down just because of one battle.

Most monsters had no intelligence.

They didn't even understand the concept of fear.

Unless…

Someone was secretly manipulating things.

After thinking about it for a moment, Ren Kai stopped worrying.

With his current strength, he could face almost any threat.

Unless Celestia itself took notice of him.

After the meal, Ren Kai walked to the cherry blossom tree in the backyard and lay down in his reclining chair.

Just then, Fuyun arrived.

"What is it?"

Ren Kai asked without opening his eyes.

"Mr. Madara, Master Mingyun and Uncle Fu have arrived."

"They seem to have urgent business."

Fuyun said respectfully.

"Oh?"

Ren Kai stood up.

It seemed his job as a consultant had finally produced some work.

He had been relaxing for days and was starting to get restless.

Perhaps this time he could stretch his muscles a little.

Ren Kai walked with Fuyun toward the main hall.

"Master Mingyun, what happened?"

As soon as he entered, Ren Kai saw Mingyun pacing back and forth with a grave expression.

"Sigh… we've run into trouble."

Mingyun hurried over as soon as he saw him.

"What?"

"Someone dares cause trouble for you in Liyue?"

Ren Kai asked calmly with a smile.

"Of course not."

"Thanks to your incredible display, Mr. Madara, the Feiyun Commerce Guild's business has been booming."

"But now we've run into a resource shortage."

"The goods I purchased from Inazuma are selling out too quickly."

"So I sent a team to Mondstadt to restock."

"But that team was attacked by monsters."

"Only two people managed to return alive."

Mingyun finished explaining in one breath before grabbing a cup of tea and taking a large gulp.
