Chapter 43 - – The Elves

Under the escort of the Knights of Favonius, the Feiyun Commerce Guild convoy safely arrived in Mondstadt City.

The two knights who had escorted them did not return to the checkpoint. Instead, they rode straight toward the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius.

Uncle Fu led the convoy to a large inn.

"Mr. Madara, we've arrived. In about two days we can depart back to Liyue."

After stepping down from the carriage, Uncle Fu spoke respectfully toward Ren Kai inside.

"Mm."

"For the next two days, you don't need to prepare meals for me."

"I'll take a walk around Mondstadt myself."

Ren Kai pulled open the carriage curtain and stepped down.

"Yes, Mr. Madara. Please take care."

Uncle Fu bowed.

After getting off the carriage, Ren Kai looked at the distinctly western-style architecture around him.

The streets were filled with beautiful blond, blue-eyed women.

With a pleasant mood, he began strolling through the city.

Mondstadt, as the main city of the region, was dozens of times larger than the one shown in the game.

And there were many sights here that one normally wouldn't notice.

Just like Inazuma had fox spirits and powerful yokai…

And Liyue had Yaksha and enlightened adepti…

Today Ren Kai had truly broadened his horizons.

There were cat-eared girls, fox-tailed girls, rabbit-tailed girls, and even members of the elf race.

Everywhere he looked, there were long, pale, slender legs.

Of course, there were also some strange-looking beastmen and dwarves wandering the streets.

"Pretty scenery in Mondstadt, isn't it?"

A cheerful voice spoke beside him.

Venti—the Anemo Archon Barbatos—appeared beside Ren Kai with a grin.

"You don't have to call me 'my lord.'"

"Just call me Mr. Madara."

"Yes, it's quite nice."

"As expected of free Mondstadt."

Ren Kai said calmly while glancing around.

Seeing so many races living together in harmony, it was probably thanks to the Knights of Favonius.

It certainly had nothing to do with the drunk bard standing in front of him.

"So…"

"How is my dinner preparation going?"

Ren Kai asked with an expectant look.

"Ahem."

"Mr. Madara, please follow me."

Venti suddenly looked a bit unsure.

Ren Kai smiled with amusement and followed him.

After winding through several streets, Venti stopped in front of a lavishly decorated tavern called Forest of Roses.

"Tsk."

"You're really willing to treat me here?"

Ren Kai looked at Venti's uneasy expression.

"Ahem."

"Mr. Madara, please wait here a moment while I reserve a private room."

Venti said with an awkward but polite smile.

"Very well."

Ren Kai crossed his arms and watched the show unfold.

Venti pushed open the tavern doors and stepped inside.

To Ren Kai's surprise—

There wasn't a single customer inside.

"You drunkard!"

"Where did you disappear to just now?!"

"You vanished during work hours!"

A woman's furious voice echoed through the tavern.

Her voice was loud enough that Ren Kai could hear it clearly from outside without even trying.

"My dear, lovely, elegant and beautiful boss, please calm down!"

"I had an important guest arrive."

"I had no choice but to leave suddenly."

"That guest is right outside now—please give me some face."

Venti's smooth tongue worked its magic.

The furious woman finally calmed down.

"Really?"

"A guest?"

"The rich kind?"

The tavern owner was a rare red-haired elf beauty.

Her figure was extremely voluptuous, and her clothing was quite revealing.

Her curves nearly burst out from her outfit.

"Ahem…"

"This guest is far more powerful than you imagine."

"We absolutely cannot offend him."

"This time I'm serious."

Venti's expression turned unusually solemn.

"Then why did you bring him here?"

The elf woman scoffed.

If he was someone they couldn't offend, then that meant she couldn't fleece him for money.

She had originally thought a wealthy customer had arrived.

"Well… I…"

"I wanted to reserve a private room here and treat him to dinner."

Venti said weakly.

"That's fine."

"Just pay the wine money you owe first."

The elf woman said disdainfully.

"Shamena, please help me this time."

"I really couldn't find anywhere else."

"If this guest isn't satisfied tonight…"

"My life might truly be over."

Venti said helplessly.

"Are you serious?"

Shamena suddenly became serious.

Others might not know the identity of the drunken bard in front of her.

But she did.

If Venti spoke in such a tone, the guest must truly be someone they could not provoke.

Shamena herself was no ordinary elf.

She was the former Grand Elder of the Elven Forest, a great mage who had lived for thousands of years.

She was even older than Barbatos himself.

Her strength was comparable to an ordinary demon god.

"Hmph."

"I'll believe you this once."

"Elf maidens! Come out and welcome our guest!"

"Highest hospitality!"

Shamena called out.

She then walked toward the door.

Six beautiful elf girls followed behind her.

When the tavern doors opened—

Two elf girls rolled out a red carpet.

Two others scattered flower petals across it.

The six elf girls lined up on both sides.

Shamena stepped outside.

"Honored guest, please enter."

She welcomed Ren Kai warmly.

"Welcome, honored guest."

The six elf maidens bowed deeply.

"…Not bad."

Ren Kai glanced toward Venti behind them.

You've got some nerve—using my reputation to treat me to dinner.

As Ren Kai passed by Shamena—

"…Hm?"

"You should be careful, young lady."

A faint golden light flashed in Ren Kai's eyes.

He had sensed Shamena trying to probe him with magic.

After observing him for so long without stopping, he gave her a small warning.

"I'm sorry!"

"I'm truly sorry!"

"I became too absorbed while observing you."

"My lord—I didn't realize it was you!"

Shamena immediately dropped to her knees in apology.

The six elf girls behind her were shocked and knelt as well.

"Get up."

"I'm here to eat, not to punish anyone."

Ren Kai walked calmly into the tavern.

Although he didn't remember meeting this elf beauty personally—

The War Demon God Rexasis had once saved the Elven Forest four thousand years ago.

Clearly, she had recognized him.

"Yes, yes!"

"I'll make the arrangements immediately!"

Shamena lowered her head, no longer daring to look at him directly.

She led the way.

Soon they arrived at a luxurious private room.

After Ren Kai and Venti entered, Shamena ordered the six elf maidens to serve them.

Then she hurried straight to the kitchen.

"Good heavens…"

"That's actually War Demon God Rexasis!"

"Why didn't that idiot Venti tell me earlier?!"

"I should dock his salary!"

Shamena fumed.

She immediately ordered the kitchen to send every delicacy to Ren Kai's room.

Then she rushed down to the underground wine cellar.

Inside the private room—

"Venti."

"You really know how to pick a place."

Ren Kai said with a smile as he sat down.

At that moment, one of the elf maidens stood behind him, gently massaging his shoulders.
