For a long moment, I was no longer standing in the throne room.
Instead, I was back on that polished floor of Lorn's castle, my blood pooling beneath me, Fashire's fingers crushing my cheeks as he forced my face upward so they could all get a good look at what he'd caught.
The memory was so vivid I could almost feel the cold marble against my knees, the way my shoulder had screamed with every breath, the way Daniels had chuckled and said something about humans growing bolder by the day.
I felt almost sick.
Even though they hardly played a part in all this, it brought back that depressing moment.
