Rain clatters against a window of a school deep within the city, and storm clouds brew up in the sky as they shift darker in colour, threatening to pour harder, and a few stray bolts of lightning strike in the distance.
A pale brown haired teen looks at them strike down, his blue eyes used to match the clear sky, but now just look like a drop in the sea. He wears a school uniform that he shares with his classmates.
The teacher keeps teaching, trying to ignore the storm outside, but it is clear that most students have mentally left the classroom. The brown haired boy looks away from the window and looks next to him, where an empty chair sits.
That chair once belonged to a friend of the brown haired boy, but it now sits empty, and it will most likely stay that way for the rest of the year. The boy who sat there was chosen the previous night and brought to another world.
There is almost a zero percent chance they will ever meet again, with only one way to even tell that they are alive, which was only possible due to someone who was also chosen who created a bracelet called the origin point.
The boy looks down at his wrist where a sleek white bracelet sits. The boy gave the chair one last glance before clicking two buttons situated on its sides.
A small camera like lens flashes as a light blue hologram forms, made of hard light that has small writing on it.

The boy, who is called Isaac, looks at the screen and then down at the other name on the screen, which is still present, and this fills Isaac with a wave of peace.
Isaac looks at the clock on the wall and begins to pack up his things into his school bag before the bell rings. He leaves some of his things in his desk drawer for tomorrow.
A loud digital bell rings through the tannoy system signalling the end of the day. Isaac looks out the window and sees the rain become denser and shudders at the thought of walking home in the rain.
Isaac picks up his water bottle and goes to fill it up at the water fountain, while he thinks about ways to stall for time, so the rain can stop. His mind goes through a few possibilities, like the school library, or he could go to his school club.
After a few minutes of not so careful thinking, he decided to visit his club today, which was made for people who have taken an interest in the traits shown on the original point. Isaac had long since given up on his, but he wanted to use it on his college application.
As Isaac was walking down a corridor to his club room, the room around him twisted and turned as a viscous black mush ran up his body as it dragged him to itself. After a few seconds, pure darkness contorted around him.
And then a polite and firm voice resounded in his ears, "Ahh, finally a break... Oh, it seems like someone was left unaccounted for, let's see, kid, what's your name?" the voice said in an almost joyful tone.
Isaac responded in a practised tone, "Isaac Wright, and if you don't mind my question, but why was I brought here?"
Isaac had heard about this place on the news. It was the gap between worlds, and this voice was a being that brought people to the parallel world for who knows what. What we do know is that you only ever meet him once, so to learn anything bigger than yourself, you must ask now or forever regret it.
In the deep mush, the voice chuckles, "I see that my loose tongue has gotten the better of me, but I will answer your question. First, let's do formalities. I am The Anix, a person stuck in between both worlds, forced to act as a bridge for humans such as you. You will be brought to a place that is deemed suitable by your inner self, so don't go blaming me that you were put into hell.
Anix continued, "Your form will differ from each world, but that is due to one of the many laws that restrict the people in the world, and once you are transported to the other world, you will be able to see what your form provides in that world through your system."
Isaac spoke and cut off Anix, "So wait, you're telling me that life is just a big piece of system slop?"
Anix spoke in response to Isaac's statement, "unlike what you may think, the system is made by you and is custom-made to fit only yourself, and each world's people's system appears in different ways. Some get stat screens, while others are books. The system is a holy law that states that all must know who they are."
Isaac thinks for a moment, "I guess that was a bit short sighted of me, I just assumed that when he said system, he was referring to a stat system like in games, but I guess he is right about how systems are a broad area full of different forms."
Isaac then spoke, "So, you got any tips for this other world that I should remember, and don't give me any of that stranger danger nonsense, I obviously already know that."
Anix pondered for a second before responding with "Be careful of people who cloud your judgment, and take everything with a grain of salt."
Once Anix stopped talking, everything around Isaac started to become elastic and heavy like he was being smushed, and then a faint glow pierced the ooze that encased him.
And then Anix spoke one last time, "That's our little conversation over for now, make sure to come back sometime, you weren't half bad to talk to."
Once Anix stopped talking, a bright light shone high in the sky as Isaac stood up, now that the intense gravity no longer pushed him down, and he looked around and saw a glade that lay beyond the horizon.
Isaac saw a few types of trees that mainly looked like oak. He walked over to one and sat under it, and was about to start to use his real system for the first time.
