"He is," Phoenix said. "He is a good man and the right fit for the Kingdom."
"How is he so different from his father?" I asked.
Phoenix chuckled. "He was raised mostly by castle staff from a young age. When he turned sixteen he started making his own decisions and his own path."
"And why did you not let him challenge the King for the title himself?" I wondered.
He shrugged with the particular indifference of someone who has already made peace with a decision. "I have always been the stronger fighter between us, not because Alexandar lacks intelligence, quite the opposite, but he is a strategist rather than a warrior. He has made threats over the years but never followed through. He knew the risk. I had thought about doing this years ago but I was not ready for it then."
