His words dissolved the last of the frustration Sean had stirred up in me. I watched Sean jog back to stand near Rose, falling into easy conversation with one of our pack warriors who had stayed close by. I noticed Alex was not among the group outside and assumed he had stayed behind with Charlie to help with pack defences. It made sense. Someone needed to hold things together at home.
"What would you like to do?" Phoenix asked.
I looked around at the women scattered across the field. Most had found their way into small groups or were simply sitting in the grass, faces turned toward the sun. A few remained huddled together more tightly, not quite ready to open up to the openness around them. But they were outside. They were breathing air that did not smell like silver. That was enough for now.
"The woman the Queen mentioned," I said. "Where is she?"
