Chapter 47 - Chapter 47. Stubborn, Aren't We?

"There's no need for now." Melanie shook her head. If that demon were just an ordinary demon, she could certainly take action to erase her from this world, but she wasn't.

She was Kira, the Princess of the Demon Race, and Leticia's younger sister.

"Because of Leticia?"

"Leticia finally managed to make a friend. If I were to kill her, Leticia would be very sad." This was a good reason, so Melanie naturally followed through with it.

Not wanting her sister to be sad—how reasonable this reason was, and it perfectly fit Melanie's persona as a sister-con.

Leticia naturally had no suspicions; the reason she could maintain this superficial peace with Melanie was also because of Yori's existence.

Neither of them wanted to make Yori unhappy. For Yori's sake, these two archenemies could currently only curse each other in their hearts or fight three hundred rounds in their dreams.

Oh, right, that was Leticia's thought. As for what Melanie was thinking, who knows?

Anyway, Leticia currently hadn't figured out what on earth this girl Melanie was thinking. This girl, whose actions could hardly be predicted by common sense, gave Leticia quite a headache.

"Since you're done asking, why don't you hurry up and leave?" Leticia decided to kick her out first.

Melanie refused. She pointed to her clothes, which had a large hole in the chest area, and said, "I'll go back after Luca leaves."

"You actually know how to feel shy?"

"I have always known how to feel shy." The young girl realized that Leticia's perception of her seemed to have deviated slightly. "I do have common sense."

"I can't tell. Would a person with common sense run naked into a bathroom where a girl is showering?" The scene from that day was still vivid in her mind, making it impossible for Leticia to agree with Melanie's words.

She, Melanie, the human Stellar Sword Saint, had teleported buck-naked into the bathroom while the Demon Lord was showering. Was this a display of common sense?

"You are different."

"I am indeed different, but clearly, my 'different' should be the bad kind of 'different'." Leticia walked up to Melanie and poked her forehead hard. "Weren't we in a life-and-death struggle before? I still haven't figured out what your intentions are."

"Actually, you know, and you know very clearly, don't you?" Melanie didn't answer Leticia's question directly. "To add some fun to a dull life."

"No, that's not your real thought." Leticia wasn't convinced by Melanie's explanation. She shook her head and voiced her own opinion. "You're more like someone who has found someone who can understand her, someone who can stand at the same height as her."

"Forget it, let's not talk about this. Didn't you want to ask me why I came to see you?"

"Mm, it's rare for you to seek me out." Seeing that Leticia didn't continue her questioning, Melanie secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Leticia had insisted on getting to the bottom of it, she wouldn't have been able to give an answer.

Because she didn't know the answer herself.

She didn't know why she had a natural affinity for Leticia, but this affinity did exist, and she didn't know its source.

She had a faint feeling of this when they first met, and during their meeting a few days ago, that strange feeling became even stronger.

Melanie didn't know why, but she knew that now that she had laid down her heavy responsibilities, she could follow the feelings in her heart.

"The Club Leader fell and was hospitalized these past few days, so I thought about visiting her, but she didn't tell me which hospital she's in." Leticia began to explain the sequence of events. "We agreed to meet at the Shopping Street on Wednesday. The Club Leader asked me to bring you along."

"You agreed? That's unusual." In Melanie's impression, Leticia should have refused directly.

Unless the Club Leader offered a condition that Leticia couldn't refuse.

"Ahem, don't look at me with those eyes. Am I that kind of person?" Leticia immediately bristled when she noticed Melanie's odd look. "Couldn't I just..."

Wait, she really couldn't have agreed of her own accord.

Wouldn't that be an unintended confession?

She, Leticia, had always emphasized that she was on bad terms with Melanie. Simply agreeing to the Club Leader's request would be like slapping her own face.

Therefore, she must have been bribed.

"Fine, I am indeed that kind of person." Leticia had an expression like she had eaten something bad. "A gold-tier skin, and the gacha kind at that."

"Oh? Am I only worth that much?" Melanie gave an ambiguous smile. "In that case, I can pay for those for you too."

Yes, this girl Melanie had plenty of money. If calculated according to the amount of the transaction between the Club Leader and Leticia, Melanie could completely support Leticia for a lifetime.

"Hehe, I agreed to the Club Leader because I have a good relationship with her." Regarding Melanie's wealthy behavior, Leticia indicated that she didn't just take any bribe; only someone she was on good terms with was eligible to make a deal with her.

"It seems our relationship is also quite good."

"Is there something wrong with your understanding?"

"We've made a deal before, haven't we?" Melanie tilted her head and said in confusion, "By the way, I took a look at that game recently. The new banner opens next Thursday. Remember to come find me to pull for cards."

If Melanie hadn't mentioned it, Leticia really wouldn't have realized that she had already made a deal with Melanie once.

Leticia punched her own head in annoyance and retorted weakly, "That time... was different."

Who told Melanie to give so much? A maxed-out character, worth a full ten thousand yuan.

The former Demon Lord now had to bow her head for ten thousand yuan; it truly brought up a myriad of emotions.

"You really are stubborn." Melanie had no intention of saving face for Leticia.

Regarding the evaluation of being stubborn, Leticia found it unacceptable. "I..."

But she couldn't argue, because even she knew very well that she couldn't change her stubborn habit.

As the former King of the Demon Race, it was impossible for her to admit her mistakes; the Demon Lord would never make a mistake.

Even if there was a mistake, it was the fault of her subordinates.

For over ten years, Leticia had maintained this habit. Her stubbornness was already subconscious. To ask her to express her meaning clearly was arguably harder than reaching the heavens.

"Go, go, go, hurry up and get out. I don't want to see you." Leticia, having lost on the verbal battlefield, flipped the table. She grabbed Melanie, who was facing her, turned her around, and pushed the girl toward the main door.

She was kicking her out.

"Not yet." Melanie immediately steadied her stance. The seemingly delicate girl was now more stable than a great mountain. "Luca hasn't left yet. I have to stay here for a while longer."
