Chapter 46 - Chapter 46. Restraint

"You, you have this kind of hobby?" Melanie looked coldly at Leticia's small hand, which didn't know where to rest, and asked after a moment of silence.

The timing and location of Melanie's appearance were truly unfortunate, right when Leticia couldn't pull back her strength. Fortunately, Leticia still retained a bit of sanity and didn't use too much force for that strike.

Otherwise, Melanie's chest might have been flattened.

Ah, yes, that's right. Leticia's hand landed squarely on Melanie's not-so-large white bun.

Not only did it hit, but the magic attached to her palm quickly corroded Melanie's clothes, resulting in Melanie's current attire being quite... revealing.

"An accident, this was an accident. Who told you to enter my house directly?" Leticia argued, feigning composure.

She wasn't wrong, okay? If Melanie hadn't zipped in via teleportation, that slap would have landed on that silly girl long ago.

Luna sighed helplessly. The moment Melanie appeared, she rushed behind Emily and delivered a precise Chop to the back of Emily's head, knocking the girl unconscious.

"Your Majesty, should I dispose of her first?" Seeing that nothing could be gleaned today, Luna asked Leticia how to handle the young girl.

After all, she was one of their own. They couldn't just kill her to silence her, could they? Luna didn't want to kill such a loyal Devil Race girl.

"Speaking of which, who is she?" Melanie turned to look at the unconscious Emily, whose head was tilted. She was also a Devil Race member, so why was she tied to a chair by Leticia and Luna?

And judging by the previous situation, it looked like Leticia was about to punish this girl.

"A petty thief breaking and entering. I suspect my younger sister knows I'm here, so I captured her for you to question." Leticia explained, looking annoyed. "I went to your house looking for you earlier, but you weren't home. I ran into her on the way back."

"You were looking for me?" Melanie had little reaction to someone entering her house, but Leticia's other statement piqued her interest.

Leticia rolled her eyes. Was this the time to worry about that?

"Shouldn't you be concerned about why this person snuck in while you were away? She searched your entire kitchen, you know."

"That's why I came looking for you." Melanie stated that she came specifically for this matter. "I probably know who is behind this person, but..." She wasn't sure if the person came for her or for Leticia.

"Leticia and I went out to eat today with Leticia's friend, Luca. This happened as soon as we left, so she must be the one behind it." Melanie voiced her suspicion.

She must have come for me. After all, Leticia hasn't shown her face at all, whereas Luca and I had close contact.

Luca's attitude towards me was also strange—she seemed scared, yet mixed with some curiosity. In this situation, it's normal for her to send someone to secretly investigate me.

"That Devil Race member?" Leticia raised an eyebrow. "That makes sense. So she wasn't looking for me?"

"The number of people who know you're hiding here is probably even smaller than those who know my true identity. If I haven't been exposed, you definitely haven't." Melanie nodded, though Leticia was now only a step away from being exposed herself.

That lovely Miss Luca is still upstairs with Leticia cleaning up the messy kitchen.

"In that case, never mind. Luna, throw this thing away, throw it far away." Leticia, now in a great mood, waved her hand at Luna, signaling the maid to dispose of Emily.

"Yes." Luna untied the ropes, then hoisted the not-so-small Emily onto her shoulder in one go. "I'll be going now."

"Hurry back."

"Understood."

Luna leaped, jumping out of the living room window and dissolving into the deep night.

As Leticia's attendant, flying was naturally Luna's specialty.

"But, since that Devil Race member already poses a threat to you, why not eliminate her?" After Luna left, Leticia asked Melanie. Isn't this person the type to draw her sword and hack down any Foreign Race she encounters? Why the change of heart now?

It was understandable that Melanie wouldn't hack at her, Leticia. After all, although Leticia couldn't defeat Melanie, it would still be difficult for Melanie to kill her.

If a fight broke out here, the entire Central City would turn into ruins. Melanie wouldn't dare take that risk, which is why Leticia dared to live so close to Melanie.

Of course, if Melanie truly disregarded the cost, Leticia really wouldn't be able to escape. Therefore, Leticia had always tried her best to accommodate Melanie's wishes and avoid direct confrontation.

A fragile balance was maintained between the two of them.

But this relationship was built upon strength. Leticia didn't understand why Melanie was so restrained when facing a Foreign Race member she could easily kill.
