"Calm down, calm down. There's no benefit in killing her, is there?" Seeing Leticia about to start hitting someone, Luna, dressed in black, quickly intervened.
No matter what, this little one was a demon after all, one of Leticia's subjects.
She was likely just following Kira's orders, and Luna couldn't bear to let her suffer such an undeserved calamity.
Leticia huffed indignantly, "I think this little girl won't say anything until she's tasted some hardship."
"I'm not little, I'm over twenty!" Emily declared that she was not a little girl.
"Over twenty is old? I'm almost thirty," Leticia immediately retorted, completely oblivious to how the conversation seemed to be veering into a strange direction.
Of course, her previous comment was just a joke; while she was a bit older, she wasn't quite thirty.
She was only a few years older than Emily, that's all.
"Then your development really isn't good, Old Auntie~" Emily mocked.
This self-proclaimed thirty-year-old in white was almost half a head shorter than Emily. If this wasn't stunted growth, what was?
Leticia was enraged; her height had always been a perpetual pain in her heart. Girls in the Demon King's family seemed to all be petite like this; her mother was like this, and so were Kira and herself.
From their appearance alone, one would never guess that this family was the royal lineage ruling over demons; perhaps this was the so-called 'you can't judge a book by its cover.'
"You little brat, you really need a lesson!" Leticia angrily lunged at Emily, but Luna desperately held her back.
"Your Majes... Calm down, Miss!" Luna pleaded. Since a few years ago, Her Majesty had become increasingly petty, often getting angry and scolding people over trivial matters.
But in contrast, the consequences of her anger had greatly diminished.
In the past, when Leticia got angry, it was basically world-shattering; now, even Luna dared to hold back an enraged Leticia.
Leticia thrashed and clawed in Luna's embrace, trying to break free, but with Luna's efforts, she was essentially just treading water.
If this continued, Luna might just be able to stall until Leticia's anger subsided.
Unfortunately, Emily was unaware of this. Her mind was currently filled with stories she had read in books: tales of preferring death over submission, enduring torture without uttering a word, and cursing enemies in prison.
She felt that she had become one with countless sacrificed demon predecessors; their heroic souls stood with her, supporting her to bravely face the impending hardship.
"Not only is your body underdeveloped, but your brain has developmental issues too!" Emily continued to court death.
"Stop making things worse!" Luna was almost in tears. She was painstakingly protecting this foolish girl, yet the girl was desperately seeking death. What was she to do?
Leticia was an incredibly vengeful person; she would probably remember these words for a lifetime. This little girl was likely in for a terrible time later.
"I'm going to tear your mouth off!" Leticia forcefully pried Luna's hands away. "Do you know who I am?!"
"You hidden-headed scumbag, I don't want to know who you are!"
"You... I..." Leticia pointed a trembling finger at Emily. She suddenly felt that such single-minded subordinates were truly exasperating.
Logically, Leticia should be happy that her subordinate was so loyal and principled.
But alas, Leticia was never a reasonable person, especially the current Leticia. She only knew that she had been insulted, and the person who insulted her was tied to a chair, unable to move.
Wouldn't it be a huge loss if she didn't hit back?
"Did I hit a nerve, are you triggered?" Emily was still desperately courting death; this girl was truly brave. "If you have the guts, kill me! Lord Demon King won't let you off!"
Demon King? The Demon King is right in front of you! Leticia really wanted to take off her hood and let this fool get a good look, let her die knowing why.
But when they brushed past earlier, the girl showed no reaction. Leticia guessed she didn't recognize her, and she hadn't even seen Kira.
Otherwise, she would have shown a puzzled expression, instead of the nervousness she displayed earlier, fearing she might be discovered.
"I'm telling you, even if the Demon King himself came today, he couldn't save your life!" Leticia started flexing her wrists. She was going to make this stubborn girl taste Leticia's special moves.
A trace of fear flashed in Emily's eyes, but her gaze quickly became firm again. At worst, she would die. When she joined the Princess's team, she had already prepared herself mentally for being killed someday.
"Good, you have backbone. I hope you're just as spunky later." Thick black smoke billowed from Leticia's right hand. "Take this, my Bone-Melting Cotton Palm!"
"No!" Luna tried to stop her, but it was too late.
However, Leticia's hand did not land on Emily. The moment Leticia struck, a white figure appeared between her and Emily.
