Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35 – The Silence That Awakens

"Silence after destruction is sometimes the greatest form of healing."

The sky was clearing.

Ash from the night before drifted away with the wind, thin steam rising between the cracked stones of Arcanis.

Kashikari walked alone through what had once been a storm.

Each step was heavy. Each breath uneven.

Jinwi's voice still lingered—but faint now.

No longer rage.

Just… a tired echo.

Kashikari stopped, placing his hands on his knees, eyes closing.

The weight of what he had done settled over him.

Nyari found him.

She didn't follow a path.

She followed a feeling.

Between broken stones, under the soft morning light—

there he was.

Collapsed.

Still breathing.

She dropped to her knees.

"Kai…?"

His lips moved slightly.

"Nyari… it's cold…"

Without hesitation, she lifted him.

He didn't resist.

For the first time—he allowed himself to be carried.

Dorum's house stood quiet at the edge of the village.

Selvan opened the door immediately.

"Inside. Now."

Dorum was already moving.

No panic. No wasted motion.

He examined Kashikari with a single glance.

"You pushed too far."

Warm water. Herbs. Steady hands.

Simple things.

Real things.

Nyari stayed close, silent—but unshaken.

Kashikari stirred.

Jinwi's voice flickered faintly:

"…I'm quiet now. Listen."

Dorum placed a hand on Kashikari's forehead.

Not power.

Not magic.

Just… presence.

"Kai," Dorum said calmly,"People don't leave behind destruction with words. They do it with the life they choose after."

Kashikari's eyes opened slightly.

"…How do you forget?"

Dorum gave a small smile, touching the ground beside him.

"The earth doesn't forget. But water moves on."

A pause.

"Be water."

Hours passed.

Silence filled the room—but it was no longer heavy.

It was calm.

Nyari rested beside him, her head leaning lightly against his shoulder.

"Come back," she whispered."To us."

Kashikari turned his head slightly.

For once—his eyes held something warm.

"I am."

By nightfall, he could stand.

Barely.

But enough.

Jinwi was almost completely silent.

Not gone.

Just… at rest.

Nyari held his hand.

Selvan and Dorum watched from a distance.

No words were needed.

At the door, Kashikari stopped.

He turned back once.

"…Thank you."

Dorum shrugged lightly.

"We protect what matters."

Kashikari nodded.

And walked inside.

The door closed softly.

Outside, the wind moved gently.

And in the darkness—

a small light didn't burn.

It endured.
