The red scales on his hands shimmered faintly as the sunlight touched them, the golden rays making them glint even more brilliantly. Zaroth's eyes flashed with something unreadable before the scales slowly began to disappear.
Oriana turned softly, wondering what had suddenly made him fall silent. Their eyes locked. As she tried to steal a quick glance at him, she smiled softly.
"No wonder the women cannot resist your charm. But do not worry— that does not apply to the ladies of Gantrem. I believe only in Driis that can happen," she spoke.
Zaroth laughed again, the deep sound cold yet unrestrained. Oriana's smile widened, her heart unknowingly fluttering. She had not expected her words to evoke such realness from this stoic man, and she did not even know why—but for some unknown reason, she felt proud of herself and maybe wanted to make him laugh more.
"You really are something," Zaroth muttered softly, the faint smile still lingering on his face.
