Oriana opened her eyes, then slowly closed them again as the soft, warm towel rested on her forehead. As she lay there, she moved her hands to support herself and sit up, but she immediately hissed and lay back down due to the pain in her palm. It was slight, yet it stung sharply.
Her eyes moved to her palm, and she noticed that it was bandaged.
She looked around and realized that she was in her room. The place carried the sweet scent of caramel and rose, the soothing fragrance relaxing Oriana as it lingered gently in the air. She turned her gaze toward the window. The sky outside was dark; she must have slept until nightfall.
Yet what came to her mind first was the question.
Is he home?
The way she had thought the word home, as though it belonged to the both of them.
Wow. How stupid of her to already be concluding such things. They had not even passed the news to anyone yet. Or perhaps this long sleep had affected her brain in some way.
