"Why me? Why did it have to be me? Why do things have to be so unfair...? This world... Why is it so unfair?"
Unfairness. Our world is built upon it. Everywhere you go, no matter what corner of The World, you will find it. It is everywhere, it is a curse, a plague that will never leave humanity.
It had been a week since Takeru was moved to Group 4 and things were going rough. Group 4 currently consisted of 4 members after Takeru's addition. There was this one dickhead called Warugaki Yabo and he was the biggest trouble for Takeru, he was sort of a bully to him.
"Get up, you lazy bastards! Its morning, we gotta get our lunch and move out!", Yabo shouted, knowing it would annoy everyone in the Group 4 dorm.
"Geez... Will you relax, Yabo?", Kohei, another member of Group 4, said.
"Just get your lazy asses up and head for breakfast. I don't wanna see no complaining.", Yabo replied, then left. Kohei looked over at Takeru, who was still sleeping. "Kid, wake up. Its time for breakfast."
Reluctantly, Takeru got up. "Alright Alright, I'm up." Kohei and Takeru both got out of their beds and headed to the elevator.
"Warugaki-san and Asano-san must already be up there, huh?", Takeru said.
"Yeah, I guess.", Kohei replied with a sleepy voice.
ding!
After arriving on the 21st floor, they were greeted by Yabo's smug face.
"So you two bums are finally here?", Yabo said.
"Shut up, Yabo. I'm not in the mood.", Kohei replied in an annoyed voice. Yabo smirked. "What's with the attitude, Kohei? Don't forget that I'm your superior."
"Whatever." Kohei sat down on the table and started munching on his food. Takeru noticed that there was no miso soup for him. "Huh? Where's mine?"
"Go get it yourself, brat.", Yabo replied. Takeru looked annoyed. "This jackass..."
Takeru began lazily walking over to the cafeteria to grab his food. On his way, he began wondering why he had to assigned to a new group. "That Rento guy was a dick but even he was better than this shithead Yabo... Geez... this whole groupkinda sucks."
The member of Group 4 excluding Takeru were Warugaki Yabo, Asano Hina and Katsuragi Kohei. Yabo was an asshole that belittled others any chance he got, Hina was a narcissist that didn't speak much thinking others weren't worthy to hear her voice and Kohei was a depressing individual with no passion for anything.
After grabbing his food, Takeru went back to the Group 4 table wishing he could just go back to the Group 5 one. After a silent meal between people that didn't care to chat with each other, Group 4 headed out for their patrol. The wards that Group 4 patrolled over were Setagaya, Suginami, Nerima and Itabashi.
Unlike Group 5, Group 4 had a car and a driver. Just like every other day so far, the car ride to their patrol area was silent and devoid of life. The atmosphere was suffocating. "These guys are so lame...."
The car had arrived in Setagaya and the 4 were left to patrol. They just walked around constantly, not saying much. There were occasional insults towards Takeru from Yabo but Takeru had gotten used to it by now and accepted them without much of a reaction. It was boring, unbelievably boring. Trying to hang around with people you don't like is the worst. "I wonder if the new pain machine chapter came out... If it did, Hiroki and Kaito are probably talking about. Are they worried about me? Maybe they just think I went on a vacation without telling anyone or maybe they think I'm just bunking my classes since my parents are abroad... I miss those lot. Hanging around with these folks is making me realize how good I had it with those 2."
brrring! brrring!
"Its a call from The Chairman, an alternate has probably awakened.", Hina said with a overly relaxed voice.
"Its me, The Chairman. Group 4, an alternate has awakened in Todoroki Valley. Go and exterminate it."
"Got it, Sir.", They all replied. They began running towards Todoroki Valley with full speed. After a short while, they arrived at the valley and saw that no one was there, the regular civilians were not there due to Tobu's ability but neither was the alternate. "Where is it?", Takeru asked. "It probably ran into the jungle. Inspect the area and see if you can find anything, you lazy bums.", Yabo replied.
After looking around for a while, Kohei found some broken branches leading into the jungle. "It went this way. Everyone, come here. We can't let it get too far away." Group 4 began following the broken branches. They were chasing down the alternate's trails. Yabo smirked. "Since its leaving behind so many broken branches, its probably a weak one that's acting wild and mindless. This one's gonna be an easy job."
After a few minutes, the broken branches had lead the group to the Fudo no Taki waterfall of Todoroki valley. Situated near the Todoroki Fudoson Temple, this historic waterfall featured water flowing from dragon head spouts. It is used for purification.
There was a small figure sitting next to the waterfall. Group 4 cautiously got closer and what they found the figure to be shocked them.
"Its a little girl...", Takeru said, feeling conflicted.
The figure turned out to be a little girl crying next to the waterfall.
"This world... Why is it so unfair? Why did it have to be me? Why!? Just why!? Tell me, please! Someone! Anyone! Answer me... Do you even hear me!? If there really is a god out there... please help me... I need your help, please... Right now, I feel so alone and scared. I don't know why but my parents ran away from me. What did I do that was so wrong? Do I really deserve this? Is this your punishment, god? Is this your judgement? Everyone else I saw got to live great lives and got anything they wanted but that wasn't the case for me. I was born into a family that couldn't provide me with things that other kids got. It was unfair. After suffering from that unfairness all my life, I decided to steal something I wanted from my classmate who had everything. I stole just one thing after years of being a good girl. Do I really deserve this?
Kami-sama, How could you be so cruel...?"
