Martin's POV
I stood outside the hospital room for a long time.
My hand hovered near the door, but I didn't knock right away. This would be the last time I saw him. After today, I planned to stay far away from the Korren family and their Omega. But something inside me needed to say goodbye properly. I had asked for permission through, Vael and Davis, and to my surprise, they allowed it.
I took a deep breath and knocked softly on the door.
"Come in," a weak but familiar voice called from inside.
I opened the door slowly and stepped into the room. Lirien was sitting up in bed, supported by several pillows. His silver-white hair looked soft under the hospital lights. His violet eyes turned toward me. He looked tired, but there was no fear in his face anymore. That made something in my chest feel strange, mix of relief and sadness.
"Martin," he said quietly.
