Vael's POV
Three weeks had passed since the terrible day Lirien was shot.
The doctors said he was doing much better now. His body was healing slowly from the gunshot wound. The three babies inside him were also growing stronger. But he still had not woken up. He remained in a deep sleep, connected to machines that helped him breathe and kept his heart beating steadily. Every day felt the same — long, heavy, and filled with waiting.
I spent almost all my time at the hospital. Davis and I took turns staying with Lirien. My mother Sara came every single day. She brought homemade food and tried to make us eat and rest. Mira and Kai, Lirien's friends from the Academy, visited almost every afternoon. They sat beside his bed, talked to him about art class, and shared funny stories from their days. Their voices always made the room feel a little warmer and brighter.
