Vael's POV
The final day had arrived.
I stood in the middle of my quarters, watching Lirien adjust the collar of his maintenance uniform for the tenth time. His hands were shaking slightly. I walked over and gently took both of his hands in mine, stopping the nervous fidgeting.
"Hey," I said softly. "Look at me."
He lifted his violet eyes to meet mine. There was excitement in them, but also clear fear.
"I'm right here," I told him. "You're not going through this alone. I'm going to take you to the designated passenger safety area and hand you over to Jax and Theo. They'll stay with you the entire time. You won't be lonely, and you won't be scared."
Lirien nodded, squeezing my hands. "I know. I just… I've never done anything like this before. Landing on a planet. Real gravity. Real air."
