Chapter 35 - W-Word

Walking through a winding corridor, Yoshiki added bounce to his steps. His destination? It's the Teacher's Faculty. The person he was going to choose for the work experience is part of the school staff.

Along the way, he saw a green bean ahead so he jogged beside them. Upon close inspection, it seems that was lost in their mind, unconsciously letting out their thoughts. Once he was beside them, he dropped all his weight on the person's shoulder, causing them to fall into the floor.

Groaning, Izuku elbowed him in the side that he blocked, "Yoshiki-kun? What are you?"

Yoshiki stood up, offering him a hand, "Are you going to apply for All Might?"

Izuku denied, shaking his head. "Ah no, All Might-sensei called for me so I was on my way. What about you?"

Yoshiki shrugged his shoulders, "Trying my luck."

Izuku raised his eyebrow in question. "All Might?"

"Ah no, Hound Dog."

Izuku seemed surprised, "Hound Dog? I thought you'd go for Aizawa-sensei."

Yoshiki shook his head, "Well, I just thought it would be nice. I searched a bit and Hound Dog was involved in police investigations."

Izuku understood, "I see, with his Quirk I can see why that's a valid choice of Heroism."

Yoshiki chuckled, "Right? As kids all we wanted was to beat up bad guys."

Izuku smiled with nostalgia. "It's not like we're already grown ups, so I don't see what's wrong with pursuing that?"

"Damn right."

After a bit of talking, they finally reached the faculty. There, they met All Might so Yoshiki bid the two goodbye.

"I'll leave you to your Father-Son Meeting then. Peace."

All Might spurted out blood, while Izuku's face turned bright red, which isn't really a good match to his green hair.

"Y-Yoshiki..!"

Yoshiki just grinned at them and moved further inside towards an office with a sign that says 'Student Discipline'

He knocked on it and after a moment, he heard a gruff voice inside.

"Come in."

Yoshiki entered and saw a furry dog-looking person inside. He's quite muscular and the most noticeable thing was the muzzle on his face. Yoshiki bowed politely and greeted him.

"Good afternoon, Hound Dog."

Hound Dog huffed and said in a gruff voice, "You may call me Inui inside school grounds."

"Then, Inui-sensei."

Inui growled but didn't seem to mind it. "What are your concerns, Hayashi-kun?"

'Wow, as expected of the Head of Student Discipline, he knows my name.' Yoshiki thought before saying his agenda.

"I wish to train under your belt for the upcoming Work Experience, Inui-sensei."

Inui seemed interested as he folded his hands together. "Oh? I thought someone as young as you would go for someone like on the Top Ranks."

Yoshiki didn't mind the jab at his age. He's young, and being young is fine. "Well, I thought about it but... well, I wanted to know what it's like being in the bottom."

That seemed to hit a nerve, seen by how Inui huffed. "I see... very well. Tomorrow morning, come here at 7:00 AM, we'll see if I'll let you under my wing or not."

Yoshiki nodded and then left the room. Inui looked at the spot before sighing. After a moment, he stood up and went to Power Loader.

"Hound Dog? What's up?"

"Can I have some of..."

----

Come tomorrow morning, Yoshiki washed up, ate breakfast, then suited up with his costume and kissed his parents good bye.

At the door, his father asked him, "Are ya winning, son?"

Yoshiki paused and replied, "I'm about to, Pa."

Without looking back, he flew with his hoverboard. Technically, there wasn't any laws that prohibit riding such transportation device. They only banned the use of Quirk without license, even then, many still does it from time to time. It's only illegal if they get caught after all.

He proceeded to fly over the barricades and dropped, putting his board on his back. He knocked on the door to Inui's office and went inside.

"You are 30 minutes early." said a gruff voice.

Yoshiki smiled, "I aim to impress."

Inui grinnned as he leaned back on his chair. "Good. Let's get straight to the point then. I have planted multiple bombs inside U.A. and your task is to find it based on your senses only."

Yoshiki was too stunned to speak at first, but managed a few words, "Bombs? U.A.?"

Inui just chuckled, "Yeah, they might explode depending on how slow you get to them. Tick-tock, Hayashi-kun."

Yoshiki gritted his teeth but was already boarding his board. "Damn it!"

Inui's voice echoed behind him as he rushed out, "Language!"

Inui laughed at the vacant spot, before Ectoplasm came in.

"Ectoplasm?"

"Hound Dog, must you really put him through all that?"

Inui just laughed it off, "It'll be fine..." he put his chin on one hand propped on the table. "There aren't any bomb anyways."

Ectoplasm looked at him for a moment before shaking his head. "What a bully."

---

For hours, Yoshiki kept looking for bombs that doesn't exist. He realized he can't look for something he doesn't even know the composition of, so he started following scents left by Hound Dog, but everytime he was led astray. It seemed

'That damn mutt!' he gritted his teeth while he breathed deeply.

He was starting to lose it, he'd been looking for hours. U.A. wasn't small by any means, in fact it's so big that they could simulate a city-wide scale here. If possible, this could house all the students of U.A. and it still wouldn't be crowded.

He was starting to think that this was all just a nonsense.

It is.

But he still have a certain trust towards a Pro Hero like Hound Dog.

Well, Hound Dog is also the Head of Student Discipline so this might just be his way to curb stomp Yoshiki's attitude by making him fail.

After several more minutes, Yoshiki realized that it is helpless, but he doesn't want to give up. Giving up is gay, he thought.

[I swear this is all Yoshiki.]

(You are the writer, aren't you?)

[I just write what Yoshiki is up to.]

(...Hm.)

Thinking about it, he went up and stopped at the top of a building and sat in a meditative stance.

If I can't find it, I just have to sense where it is, right? I mean, if there really is a danger, shouldn't I be able to feel it at least? Come on, show me where it is. You are a great Quirk aren't you? Hm? I can't even control you, you just change whatever you wanted without my permission.

He continued meditating while the CCTVs watched his every movement. Hound Dog who was watching it on his monitors let out a small smirk.

'It seems he's ready to give up...'

Yoshiki was reaching inside of him, something, anything.

'Danger.... let me feel it... where's the danger coming from..?'

Due to his meditation, his senses went into an overdrive. He started picking up birds chipping from a mile away, he could faintly smell the earthly smell. Still, he reached further, focusing on his sense of touch or perhaps some kind of sixth sense inside of him.

Before he knew it, he started to feel a foreboding sense of unease in the corner of his mind. As he opened his eyes, looking far into the distance as if he was looking at something the normal eyes can't see, yet he is smiling.

"There you are."

He got up on his board and raced through the skies. It was so sudden that Hound Dog who was watching was dumbfounded.

"He's...not gonna leave is he..?"

Yet Yoshiki did not stop until he got out of U.A.

"It's... he's really going out."

---

After about an hour, Yoshiki walked in without bothering to knock and opened the door.

BANG!

Inui was shocked out of his chair but he recovered instantly, "Oh! Oh, Hayashi-kun! You're back?"

He smiled looking at Yoshiki's disheveled state, full of dirt as if he dug out the ground in hopes of looking for the a bomb that wasn't there.

"Have you finally learned your lesson for today? That's right it's—"

Thud!

Without letting him continue, Yoshiki dropped a bag he was holding, a number of explosives cluttered out of it.

It took him time to find it all scattered around Hosu but he got it and had to diffuse it one by one.

Yoshiki fixed his hat with a smile, "Did I pass?"

Hound Dog looked at the explosives and then to Yoshiki, dumbfoundedly.

"Eh?"
