Chapter 88 - The War After The Realization

The battlefield no longer resembled a battlefield.

It resembled the remains of a collapsing world.

Broken structures floated in fractured space. Rivers of flame moved beneath frozen ground while shadow distortions cut through the sky like tears across reality itself. The curse spreading through the Divine forces had corrupted the battlefield so heavily that even the system struggled to stabilize the area.

Yet the war continued.

Because neither side could stop anymore.

At the center of the destruction, Kael and Elara stood side by side as the shattered domain expanded around them again.

This time—

without hesitation.

Without distance.

The synchronization between them had become immediate now, almost instinctive. Elara no longer needed to wait for Kael's movements to understand his intentions, and Kael adjusted to her presence naturally, as though the battlefield itself had begun reshaping around both of them together.

The Divines noticed everything.

The Soul Hall authority spoke first.

"Their synchronization efficiency continues increasing."

The Inferno Monarch's cursed flames darkened violently.

"Then we destroy them before completion."

The attack descended instantly.

A storm of flame and authority crashed downward hard enough to distort the sky itself.

Kael stepped forward.

Elara moved with him.

The domain surged upward.

The collision exploded across the battlefield.

This time—

they held.

Not barely.

Completely.

The shockwave tore through the surrounding landscape instead, destroying entire sections of fractured terrain while Kael and Elara remained standing at the center.

Riven stared from behind them in disbelief.

"…Okay," he muttered weakly, "that was terrifyingly impressive."

Kael's breathing remained uneven after the impact, but his control did not falter.

Elara noticed immediately.

"You're pushing the domain too far again."

"We don't have another option."

"You say that every time."

"And I'm still correct."

Despite the battle, a small irritation crossed Elara's face.

Riven blinked slowly.

"…You two argue like people who have already been together for years."

Both of them ignored him immediately.

Which somehow answered the question better.

The battlefield shook violently again.

The curse spreading through the Divines had grown visibly worse now. Black fractures moved constantly across their immortal forms, especially around the Inferno Monarch and the Cryomix Sovereign.

Yet instead of weakening—

their attacks became more unstable.

More destructive.

"They're losing control," Elara realized.

"No," Kael corrected quietly.

"They're sacrificing control."

That answer chilled the air around them.

Because the meaning behind it was obvious.

The Divines were willing to destroy themselves—

if it meant ending the Eclipse bloodline.

The Shadow presence suddenly appeared closer than before, distortion spreading around its form.

"Your existence guarantees instability."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"And your system guarantees fear."

The shadow twisted violently.

Then attacked.

Dark distortions erupted across the battlefield from every direction simultaneously, targeting blind spots impossible to predict.

Riven immediately reacted.

"I've got the outer fractures!"

He moved faster this time despite his exhaustion, intercepting several distortions before they could reach Kael and Elara directly.

But one slipped through.

Straight toward Elara.

Kael noticed instantly.

Too instantly.

He pulled her toward him before the distortion reached her position.

The attack tore through his shoulder instead.

The domain flickered violently.

"Kael!"

Elara grabbed him before he lost balance completely.

For a second—

the battlefield disappeared again.

Only him mattered.

The realization hit her harder this time because she no longer had emotional distance left to hide behind.

Kael looked at her carefully despite the pain.

"…You're too focused on me."

"And you're not focused on yourself at all."

"That's different."

"It isn't."

Their faces were closer than either of them realized.

Riven looked away dramatically.

"…I genuinely cannot believe this conversation is happening during a war."

Neither responded.

Because neither could.

The Inferno Monarch's flames erupted violently across the sky again.

"Enough distractions."

The entire battlefield darkened.

Then all five Divine forces aligned once more.

The pressure this time felt different.

Heavier.

Final.

Even the system voice echoed through the fractured sky:

"Execution authority fully approved."

Riven's expression dropped immediately.

"…That sounds worse than the last one."

Kael slowly straightened despite the injury spreading through the domain connection.

The distorted space around him expanded again.

Unstable.

Dangerous.

But controlled.

Elara remained beside him immediately.

No hesitation now.

The Divines prepared their final formation across the broken sky while cursed fractures consumed more of their immortal forms.

The battlefield itself began collapsing under the pressure.

And for the first time since the war began—

Kael understood something clearly.

This battle would not end without someone losing everything.

The same realization reached Elara seconds later.

She looked toward him quietly.

And suddenly—

the fear inside her became unbearable.

Not fear of the Divines.

Not fear of death.

Fear that this war would take Kael away from her before she could even understand what he had become to her.
