Chapter 7: When Silence Breaks
That night, Maya couldn't sleep.
Not because of fear.
But because of questions.
Arin.
His name echoed in her mind.
His words felt real.
Too real.
The next day,she locked for him.
In class.
In the hallway.
Everywhere.
But he was no where.
"Have you seen Arin?" She asked one of her classmates.
They frowned.
"Who?"
"Arin....he was no the rooftop yesterday. "
The classmate shook their head.
"There's no one named Arin in our school. "
Maya felt a chill run through her body.
"No.....that's not possible, " she whispered.
She rushed to the rooftop again.
The door was closed this time.
She pushed it open.
Empty.
"Arin? She called out.
No answer.
Her heart started beating faster.
Was it all .....in her head?
Then she remembered something.
His words..
"I used to be like you."
Used to be.
Maya's eyes slowly widened.
That afternoon, she went to the school office.
Her voice shook as she spoke.
"Excuse me....can I see old student records?"
The teacher looked confused.
"Why?"
"I'm looking for someone. "
After a moment, they handed her a file.
Maya flipped through the pages.
Names.
Faces.
Years.
Then
She froze.
A photo.
A familiar face.
Arin
Her hands started trembling.
She read the line under the photo...
"Arin Rahaman-Former student. Deceased."
Maya's breath stopped.
"Deceased .....?"
Her vision blurred.
"Her .....passed away last year," the teacher said quietly. "Her was very quiet. Kept to himself. "
Maya couldn't move.
Everything suddenly made sense.
The calls.
The Voice.
The rooftop.
Arin wasn't just someone like her.
He was someone who never got a chance to be heard.
And somehow..
He chose her.
Tears rolled down Maya's cheeks.
That night, she opened her diary again.
For the first time...
Her hand didn't shake.
She wrote...
"I thought Silence was my only identity. "
"But I was wrong. "
She paused.
Then continued..
"Someone once listened to me....
When no one else did."
"Now, it's my turn. "
The next day, Maya did something she had never done before.
She spoke.
In class.
In front of everyone.
Her voice trembled..
But she didn't stop.
She talked about Silence.
About pain.
About being unseen.
The room was quiet.
Not mocking.
Not laughing.
Listening.
For the first time....
They were listening.
And Maya realized...
Her silence was never weakness.
It was strength.
A strength she had finally found.
As she walked home, the wind brushed past her gently.
For a moment...
She felt it again.
That presence.
That voice.
Soft.
Faint.
"Thank you...."
Maya smiled through her tears.
"You're not alone anymore," she whispered.
And neither was she.
The End.
"Do you think Arin is real ...or just a shadow of Maya's mind?
Tell me your thoughts ....."
